Very helpful video this , I’m going in December /January this year to San Jose , Manuel Antonio , Montverde , La Fortuna for just over 3 week as a solo traveller from Britain cannot wait looking forward to it greatly

I agree!! They're such lovely people, so warm and welcoming and really helped me practice my basic travel Spanish :) So patient and sweet of them! We just found them so accomodating and to be wonderful hosts everywhere we went.

Yes! Costa Rica is one of the 5 most expensive countries in Latin America and it’s the highest in Central America so you have to save some money to come here. Great video, by the way. :) Greetings from Limón, Costa Rica!💚

I wear 50+ every single day! Cloudy days mean UV rays - better to wear it and reduce the risk of sun damage and skin cancer 😊

Amazing! You're going to have the best time - I'm not sure of the dimensions but it's just a 'medium' size suitcase. I would definitely recommend packing lighter if you can because lugging a suitcase on/off buses, gravel roads, up and down stairs etc isn't fun haha

Awesome!! Be sure to watch your bags (especially backpacks, handbags etc) very closely as you move around on public transport. Our group was targeted by pickpockets and while we were fine because we're super vigilant, a few of the others who weren't had some stuff taken.

Tica here, if anyone see this I advise to go to banks for exchanging money because is a better deal that way, look in the menus if it says " i.v. no incluidos" it means 13% would be added at the end (it should be included already but sometimes they don't); if it says "Soda" in the restaurant name is like traditional/homemade style of food and normally more food on the plate (usually lower prices too). In here the app Waze is used to travel, a lot of people use it for normal commute too so if there an accident or traffic is horrible it would show up there.

09:09 Your gratuity is included, it's the law. Sometimes they hide it as a "tax" but it's there. If you want to tip more than 10% that's fine but 10% is already added if you're in a restaurant that gives you a receipt..

That's right, there is no tipping culture in Costa Rica because it came with the recipe already.

Excellent overview! I just returned having done the same itinerary with G Adventures for 15 wonderful days. I would second taking the following and keeping them in your day bag: Deet 100 repellent, small binoculars, sunscreen, swim trunks, and a small but powerful flashlight/torch for those night time nature walks. I also wore my close-toed Keen sandals 90% of the time. Pura vida! P.S. Make sure you bring home some Linzano salsa!

Haha yes! Just jump online and learn or print out some basic Spanish phrases. Learn how to say things like ‘no eggs, cheese, milk, meat’ etc. Learn how to say yes to beans and rice! From memory I just googled it and found a website with some key phrases. Memorised what I could and printed it out to show people when needed.

The tip for Uber can only apply to the major cities, so if you were saying in San José. For adventuring further you absolutely need transport. As mentioned, we did a tour with Intrepid 😊🙌🏻 that allowed us to visit a wide range of places! We didn’t hire a car so I can’t advise on this 😍🙏🏼

I have to be honest, I don’t recall the cost! But you can find out the cost on the Intrepid website (they often have really good discounts if you book far ahead)! The tour is the ‘Classic Costa Rica’ and they have great information on everything that’s included on their website too 😍
