    I am concerned about the impact of rising prices on my plans to retire at 62 and build savings. I wonder if individuals who experienced the 2008 financial crisis found it less challenging than my current situation. The stock market's volatility, combined with a reduced income is causing anxiety about having enough for retirement.

  • @poland_ka_safar

    Depends on if it's temporary or permanent. I'm sure temporary guests are allowed by all but if the home would be permanently occupied by more people then they may change the rates.

    Some fees, like garbage disposal, can be charged per person (the other two methods are per square meter or based on water consumption) so if you sign a lease for 1 person and have 4 live there long term, or have a lot of short term guests, that can be a problem. But that actually depends on location, not a landlord, and the difference in cost is not very high (apart from Warsaw, where it can be 2-3 times higher than in other large cities). Another thing is that some utility meters (water, gas, electricity) are not checked monthly, but for example once 3 months, but you pay your bills monthly based on a forecast. This means that after 3 months you will have to pay the difference (or will be credited the difference if it's in your favour) and your bill might be significantly higher than in the previous 2 months, which is never fun. How utilities are settled usually depends on a specific location, but it may vary from flat to flat in the same building, depending on a gas/electricity supplier your landlord has a contract with (water and heating are always the same for the same building AFAIK). So in summary, it's easier to specify the actual number of tenants on the lease and the cost should not be much higher.

    There are effectively three tax rates 0% for up to PLN 30k, 12% for up to PLN 120k, and 32% for anything above that. However, there are social security and health insurance contributions on top of that so expect your net salary to be approximately 2/3 of your gross. Public primary and high schools are free until a child graduates or turns 18, whichever comes later. As for universities, it depends... Your best bet is to contact a specific university and ask for a specific course.

    There are effectively three tax rates 0% for up to PLN 30k, 12% for up to PLN 120k, and 32% for anything above that. However, there are social security and health insurance contributions on top of that so expect your net salary to be approximately 2/3 of your gross.

  • @serpents666

    @serpents666

    @@soumitra334 They get automatically deducted by your employer, and if you make up to PLN 120k a year it's about one third of your gross salary (tax and social/health insurance total). Above that it gets a bit higher as you enter the top tax bracket (as I mentioned before, only the amount in excess of 120k gets taxed at 32%). Bear in mind that that's for an employment contract, and if you receive any kind of additional benefits like private health insurance, rent subsidies, tuition for kids, that counts as taxable income. I can't tell you how much it is if you run your own business because then you can choose one of a few tax systems, depending on the kind of a business you run, your turnover, you might qualify for some tax breaks and exemptions etc. so you'd have to consult a professional tax advisor/accontant to get a decent estimate based on your specific case.
