    Took down and revised this video to change the metric used to measure rent. Instead of statewide average rent, the number now used to calculate rent is median asking price for a vacant unit statewide. This reflects the current market rates a bit better for the state 🤝👍

    For real!! I live in San Diego & I now spend 2,000 a month on groceries for my two teenagers and myself and that’s mostly me eating just what is left over. My husband is deployed & will be returning home this summer and groceries will cost even more when that happens😂 I would say another 1500 w/ the way he eats.

    @@104copyTHATI actually cut down and today spend 1,500/mo that’s 500 in savings. Groceries are expensive, I cook a lot, my husband and two teens love for meat and they eat big portions at a time is what breaks the budget. I’m the only one who eats once a day and eat like a bird and don’t eat meat.

    In San Francisco, with an income under $70k you will need to live with roommates. With income between $71-$89k, you can have a very humble studio (200-400 sq. foot - starting at $2k/month in less ideal neighborhoods). Starting at $90k you can afford same size studios in safer neighborhoods.

    Rent seems way too low still. Rent is more than 2000 average. But someone making 100k isn’t average. I doubt someone who makes 100k lives the same as someone who makes 50k

    My neighbor rents a 2 bedroom condo for $3000 a month. The medical bills part is way too high because employers pay a part of it. I pay $71.00 a week for medical insurance.

    My deductions in California is 43% for 100k salary. Sometime it goes up to 45%. That’s from 2021 and 2022. And that’s not including insurance or any other bills. I am left with, on average. $1000 a month for spending money each month.

    Yep. Sounds pretty accurate for CA but you did included misc. expenses which most of us over spend in that area. Gifts, pet expenses, clothing, toiletries, cleaning supplies, coffee, eating out, movies, toys if you have kids, medicine, co-pays, credit bills, student loans or education expenses if u have them. After all that you’d be in the red.

    The insurance Gap is huge. I pay 300/ a month for health 120 for dental. Rent at 36k would be 3k a month which is kinda high. Idk who would pay 3k for rent thats not sharing or rich

    Gas $ 0.84 a liter. Why am I paying $1.90 a liter. That's about $7.60 a gallon? We also pay $27.00 for 750ml of Rum and $3.95 for a beer at the store. And rent for a 2 bedroom apartment 1900.00 too 2500.00 a month. 7 too 15 hour wait in a hospital. And it goes down to -30 in the winter. I wanted guacamole I purchased an "1" avacado $2.60. 6pc chicken brest $27.00. And for those who smoke $22.00 for a pack. What is going on? We have lots of jobs because all the immigrants are leaving the country. Minium wages 15.00 an hour and we are taxed about 30%.

    You need to start your own business. A year and 2 months ago I was making 35k working for amazon. Now i make $135k with my catering business. Start a service based business that doesnt require a lot of capital, like window cleaning, car detailing, house cleaning, catering, etc. Do it part time, on the side. Then when it takes off, quit your job. Don't overthink it, just do it.

    It definitely varies depending on where you are in the state, it's a big state. California has some really expensive cities that skew those numbers. You could get by on $50k a year in Bakersfield and other central valley towns no problem for example.
