Cost of living crisis in Australia is not going to be ‘a simple solution’

Sky News contributor Evelyn Rae says the cost of living in Australia is “out of control”.
Ms Rae told Sky News Australia that she “doesn’t know what the solution is”.
“I don’t think it’s going to be a simple solution.
“I don’t think Labor being in federal power at the moment, I don’t think that it’s completely up to them to fix this.
“I don’t think they can, serious reformation needs to happen.”

CBA’s head of Australian economics, Gareth Aird, said on Tuesday that not only were further rate rises now a “near‑term risk”, but any cuts will also come slower than previously expected. Most of the expected cuts will likely be pushed back to 2025, he said. He explained that strong population growth, driven by net overseas immigration, has put pressure on the Consumer Price Index. “Most notably the housing‑related components,” Mr Aird wrote. “As a result, demand is stronger and so inflation is falling less quickly than otherwise.” Meaning immigration is the problem. We're inheriting THEIR problems!

And how did we get into this position? Nothing to do with a careless Labor government spending money on a senseless race dividing referendum, handing out millions of unaccountable dollars to minority groups in this country, squandering money on preposterous renewable energy projects, needless overseas travel costs, foreign wars, funding UNWRA, WHO and other non elected foreign organisations..and so the list goes on. All driving up inflation and interest rates. Labor have always managed to stuff up the economy. This time they are scuttling the country in a push to have full control over our lives. Many still remain oblivious to Labor's dark agenda.

No kidding about the expenses. My vehicle broke around Easter. I coughed up $256 for a tow / breakdown. I then paid another $400 for a new alternator (installed myself). The battery had taken a beating (took out to charge at home, stuck it back in just to find it wouldn't hold charge 2 days later as I left for work [meant I had to cancel work * more money lost* ] . After this, a new battery went in $236. 3 days later I got a reminder that my rego was due (didn't even get a renewal notice) in 3 days "cha ching" , more money paid. Because I need my vehicle for work, I had no income for over a week. Add that to ever increasing rental prices and food prices (used to spend $50 / week on food. Now it is more like $100)

Yes. Simple. Declare a state of emergency and freeze costs of certain products, and a mandatory 10% price reduction in basic essential food stuffs in supermarkets employing 25+ staff members. Declare an immediate rise to the minimum wage by 3-5% and drop the fuel excise tax. Divert funds from the solar and wind energy schemes to recommissioning coal energy plants, and legislate that whenever there is a rate rise, banks must increase the interest rate on savings accounts in full immediately, and for rate drops, banks must decrease the interest rates on loans in full immediately. Also legislate the continuation of cash and the only way to remove cash would be via referendum. Ban adverts for gambling on all services.

Most don't shop around when bying things or even doing food shopping, and waste money on things they could do themselves just because they're being lazy. Terminal consumers, in other words. Fact is in most other countries people have a lot less to work with and they still manage just fine. Aussies can as well. It's not so much a cost of living cricis as it is bad spending practice crisis. Live below your means. Always below, not beyond. The problem is low income and high housing costs so living below your means is virtually impossible, your means is less than required to cover the basics. No one is living a champagne lifestyle on an aged or disability pension and they don't have the extravagant expenses like streaming services to cut

Mate, CBA’s head of Australian economics, Gareth Aird, said on Tuesday that not only were further rate rises now a “near‑term risk”, but any cuts will also come slower than previously expected.
