We've lived here for 24 years and the concrete septic tank was here and connected to an old mobile home. I;m guessing it's at least 30 or 40 years old. Just keep heavy weight away from the tank after installation, like cars, trucks, tractors, etc... We've also only paid once to have the tank emptied after living here right at 20 years and it was mostly liquid so it probably didn't even need cleaned out to be honest.

To be precise, you STILL have to tie the main house into the septic system, but obviously, that is pretty much negligible in terms of materials cost and the labor will be part of the foundation prep in any case. Now that I know the cost per yard on the gravel, I concede that buying a jaw crusher isn't necessarily the best purchase, especially since you'll be able to haul your own gravel from here on out. I'm sincerely hoping that Jacob has a set of rough drawings/plans showing all the components of the septic system for the eventual repairs/maintenance.

@@aboulderlifeoffgrid but you can't get the permit til u have the perc test. They make you have to bring in equipment twice which really hurts if you are remote area. I'm getting a design from my peec test guy too. I might risk it and dig before I get the permit but I'll probably need the excavator a second time anyway unless I backfill by hand. I got a quote for $7500 installed. I think I can do it for $5000 renting equipment, maybe not. The concrete tank is $1700
