Cossacks: Back To War (PC, 2002) - Versus 2 Normal CPU
Ойындар
This is a one-off video of one of my favorite real-time strategy games on PC. Cossacks: European Wars, developed by the Ukrainian company GSC Game World, released in 2000 and was followed by the "Art of War" expansion in 2001, and the stand-alone expansion "Back To War" in 2002. It was praised for the ability to have thousands and thousands of units per player, more than any other war RTS game at the time. It is also famous for its extensive historical encyclopedia that details accurate information about 17th and 18th century European nations, weaponry, and infantry types.
The settings I used in this Random Map mode are as follows:
Map Type: Mediterranean
Initial Resources: Thousands
Minerals: Normal
Start With Balloon: Enabled (aka, see full map from start)
Peace Time: 30 minutes
1 Human (England) vs 2 Normal CPU (Russia & France)

Super enjoyable Bill, would love to see more RTS if it continues to interest you!
I love me some hot old school RTS action.
Wow I'm behind on content. Way to keep up the pace, Bill!
please make more of these. it was a great video.
When I was younger I remember my aunt giving me a copy of the antology but I can't find it! I may buy it again, seems like a good game

Be careful with physical copies of anthology or any of these stand-alone games. If you're on a newer machine, it likely won't work at all. For this, I played on Steam, on a computer from 2016 with Windows 10 that was factory reset and did not update ever. Even then, there are some compatibility troubleshoot things that must be done with files located in the folder "bin". And it's still not perfect. This is really only playable on old machines with Windows 7 or less.
Really happy you got this to work! I remember you mentioning this in a video, although I forget which one cus I watch all of your videos often 😅
Liked 👍😉
That's a rts that slipped me by. Too busy with red alert 2 and age of mythology during that time period but I do love a older rts game. More Please.
Awsome, used to love this game.
This game looks interesting, never even heard of it till now. I used to play a lot of Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader when I was younger and this game looks similar to those.
All the graphical glitches may be related to the fact this is a really old game, if you're interested in playing retro PC games, you could build/buy a PC specifically for that, with older parts and windows XP, if not, then it doesn't matter, a few glitches are fine anyways.
I used to play a lot of Age of Empires on PC back in the day and it's eerily similar haha love this content man! 👍🏻

Yup, that and American Conquest were very similar. This one was developed in Ukraine by GSC Game World. I discovered it from a demo at a friend's house. Running some searches, it seems way more popular in Europe (makes sense I guess) than here. Age of Empires had more marketing in the US I think. But this and Worms were my favorite 2000s era PC games.

@@GoodOldDaysGaming Yeah to be honest I had never even heard of Cossacks but if i had I would've really liked it. Man watching you play this made me wish I still had a laptop or PC so I could try to play it or play AoE again haha I could get lost playing that for hours.
yes
You gotta try out Banished if you'd like an rts without combat. It's all resource management
I think that this was my first ever strategy game :D
I played Age of Mythology during that time.... Funny thing about it, because I got interested in that I made 80% in my history class
lets go bill
If you enjoyed this you should give fire emblem three houses a try!! One of the best switch games
This Looks like Populous To me.
I prefer warcraft2 or starcraft2
I take issue with most war games: they indoctrinate little kids into thinking war is fun, and then, later in life, they're more likely to go off to war on behalf of their owners (i.e. politicians), who sit in their mansions and watch the war on TV. It's state-sanctioned murder.
