If I had a Nickel for every time Mario fought a pirate captain to get a shiny star thing, and then that pirate helped him fight a 3rd party that tried to steal said shiny star thing, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice, right?

It’s a good time to be a Mario RPG fan. We got remakes of two of the most beloved ones, We got a new M&L, And Jonny has been going nuts with the OST’s over the past year. As it All Crumbles Down (Underhero)

I love that you included some of the xylophone-sounding stuff from the original battle theme, as cool as the remake’s battle theme was, I was disappointed that this aspect of Cortez’s theme was downplayed.

After hearing the new version in the TTYD remake I was blown away that it just turned into a Doom song lol. And after hearing it, I was hoping you'd do a remix of it at somepoint, but I wasn't expecting it this soon! Anyways, banger as always Jonny!!

It's awesome you did the victory outro at the end. It's really cool they have those, ever since Origami King. Ever since Yoshito Sekigawa (formerly Hirano) returned to Paper Mario, he's been cooking. He also did a great job playing the guitar in this remake.

Yesss, I'm glad the remake is bringing about more Paper Mario music! Also I LOVE the shift from the original to the remake partway through.

I saw that preview image and was like..."that has a weird silhouette...like Omega from Sonic, with a chainsaw..." and then plumbed the depths of my older indie game knowledge, and the beginning notes of BATTLE OF LIL SLUGGER percolated into my brain, and I literally irl pogged

Just think, Mario was the first to fight Skeletron in his full pirate glory.

"I will bite you." -Cortez, maybe It's wild just how amazing the TTYD remake music was, and yet you still somehow made it even cooler?!? And come on, those distorted vocals from the Origami King Legionary boss fight tracks, pure perfection

I, for one, am hoping there are more Paper Mario: the Thousand-Year Door covers, especially since the remake REALLY loves using the electric guitar in a lot of its battle themes!

When I first heard the music for this in the remake, I knew there just HAD to be a GaMetal mix coming up for it. The gameplay footage showcases a move I didn't even know Cortez had. Usually, the people I know just power through this boss in one turn per phase, so I had no idea there was a desperation move hiding in the code for the third one. He definitely needed more health.

Thanks to the remake this is one of my favorite songs in TTYD now, they did the song SO much justice. Excellent cover, I love how you did the build up to the climax in an even more fitting way to the pirate theme

You know, I was just thinking "I wonder when GaMetal will remix the Cortez Theme" since I was kinda mixed on the remake's take on it and lo and behold this pops up in my feed. Oddly it almost feel like this is trying to be it's own thing rather then just remix the theme and I dig it. Great work as always!

This cover is SO brilliant! I really like the way they went with the Remake of Cortez' theme! Your take on the already heavy rock theme is even more heavy! LOVE IT! Also edit: I REALLY LIKE to imagine that all those bosses have a "live-band" playing on stage with 'em. Would kind of fit the game and it's mechanic.

It’s absurd that not only did the original game do a legendary job with its tracks, but the remake doubled down with just as many bangers. Cortez has always been one of my favorites. Definitely going on my car playlist.

Honestly most of the Paper Mario boss themes are fire! (General guy, cough cough). But Kartikeya still loves this swashbuckling tune.
