Cortes Island to Forward Harbour - Scenery & Highlights (Boating British Columbia Coast July 2024)

Anne's Charles Bay Video - • Exploring Charles Bay,...
In this video, I show highlights and spectacular British Columbia scenery from our early July 2024 coastal boat cruising. We made our way from Von Donop Inlet, Cortes Island, up to Forward Harbour, with stops at the Octopus Islands, Cameleon Harbour, and Blind Channel.
Wildlife encounters include spotting a little mink with a large fish it just caught, fun with a pod of Pacific White-sided dolphins, and a sad sighting of a tailless humpback whale. We are anchored in Forward Harbour, waiting for winds to die down in Johnstone Strait so we can make our next leg of the journey north towards the Broughtons. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brought...

If Anne’s smile was any bigger, they’d see it from the Space Station. Beautiful area, great boat. Thanks for sharing.

We admire you both for learning all you need to know to plan your moves with tides and winds. Seems very complex to folks like us who have only piloted fishing boats in lakes. Anne...you're our hero.

Beautiful surroundings. When you are in the RV you take the lead but at sea you leave it to Anne and she looks very very happy doing it. Great video.

Yup, Anne is captain and navigator and I'm the ships engineer, first mate and cook. :) Works out well.

Wow. Those narrows and rapids were freaky. That must have been something for Anne to navigate through. It was so thrilling when those dolphins swam right up to Vestri. I saw your other video of the tail-less whale. That is astonishing to see. I wouldn't have thought it could survive or travel without a tail. I hope it is still able to enjoy its life. I love this boating lifestyle you've got going in the warmer months. Such an adventure and so fascinating because I have no experience with such things.

Ray, you have to raise that steering mechanism so Anne doesn’t have to reach down so far.

It would be quite the job given the way its put together. She seems to be OK with it, she says if she stands its a good height. Usually she stands if its in a marina or tight spots where she needs precision movement. Most of the time its on autopilot anyway, since with a slow boat you can be in the same direction for long durations.

Really enjoying your channel. I have the same boat / engine as you guys. Also I have chain and cable steering and am wondering if you have an autopilot and if so what is the make and model - thanks

Thanks. :) Yes, its a Raymarine. Anne loves having the autopilot. Here is a video from last year where I had to hack together a repair when the remote broke Autopilot Hack for Broken S100 Wireless Remote kzread.info/dash/bejne/pph9saNpf7u2e84.html Cheers, Ray

Jealous, I spent years up in that area commercial prawning, never had a chance to sit and enjoy anything.
