Good guide. If i made add a couple of things: when checking the wheel, put it straight, put hands on 09 and 15 o'clock position and wiggle to check for bearing play. And second, please clean battery terminals with grit paper if rusted and apply copper grease not wd40.

etienne nel not a lot of info to go on in terms of a diagnosis. Order of things I’d check. Clutch. Pull handbrake on as hard as you can, try driving off. Car should stall and not allow revs to climb whilst engaged. Crank and timing sprockets / pulleys. If none of above. Could be fuelling - try unplugging MAF, see if it changes the fault. If not, unplug O2 sensor - again check for faults. Important to note, unplugging these won’t fix the issue - so don’t expect it to run right, just see if your issue improves. Failing that. Could be a clogged/knackered EGR or even swirl flaps. I had an issue with mine recently. Troubleshooted everything - eventually figured out corrosion on cylinder head had caused a poor earth for the plugs - but of a scratch down and it’s as good as new. Best of luck, hope you get it sorted.

Tom need some help please, just bought corsa month ago, 2007 1.2.I am so upset, car is collecting water in the spark plags area, machanic said that's the condensation but the car is missfireing every time when is raining. I changed spark plugs and coil, and the whole week the weather was nice and dry, cold and it worked perfectly and then again rain, storm. Open the coils and water in number 2, covering almost the whole spark plug. Drain it, drive it, still little missfire and the next day again dry weather works perfectly. Today again rain... Engine light on, service car, little bit working good, little bit on 3 cilinders. Help!!!

Hi Tom thanks very much for the great vid. I have just bought a 2011 vauxhall corsa 1.2 sxi and will be looking to carry out my own service on it in the coming week. your vid will def help me as i am a total novice. Do you know much about the timing belts etc...or have you done any vids on changing them? mine has done 72k and has full service history but no mention of any belts being changed...i think the 1.2 are chain driven...a) is that correct? and b) do you think i need to get that replaced? theres no funny noises at all when driving but I have lost 2 cars previously (admittedly I didn't look after them - lesson learnt) to the belts snapping and killing the engine so I am massively paranoid about that happening again. thanks again for the fantastic vid.

Thank you for the big comment its great. The corsa's have timing chains inside them. They are expected to last 100,000 miles but often don't due to incorrect oil change intervals. B). If it's making a chain rattling sound potentially depending on the extent of the rattle. Corsa's do have a rattle sound even with the correct oil viscosity and a new chain and tensioner fitted. Plus the hydraulic lifters are usually fairly loud too.

No videos on changing one since I made sure that I purchased my car with a new timing chain fitted at the time.

@@TomsDriveway Hey thanks for the reply. I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and get a new chain fitted. Car also just started juddering and hunting this weekend - fairly certain it's the coil pack or sparks. Thanks to your vids I'll be able to do both although it's under warranty so the dealer can do it 😁

Yeah funnily enough I get the same issue, very very occasionally. I'm assuming maybe the fuel cap seal, or maybe a seal around the tank. Very strange I may try investigate more if it come back

Hi there, can anyone tell me why i can't turn off my spanner light on a vauxhall corsa 2010 1.3 diesel, the service as been done, i tried to reset the light, but it would go out, so i've put it on a diagnostics machine, it's telling me there are no faults with the car, car starts and drives fine. Thanks.

May require to be put on a bosche reader if you are not able to reset it, plenty of hidden codes which will not display on a regular OBD reader

Can you do a video of how to change the Drive belt ? My Corsa D 1.2 2010 I would need to remove the engine mount to get the belt off which terrifies me, You have to support the engine on the sump. Last time I attempted to remove the belt tensioner I was undoing the bottom bolt of the tensioner and the bolt snapped leaving half of it still in the engine block !! That was not a good day for me :(

Tom's Driveway yea first time for me I started to undo the tensioner and bottom bolt snapped !!! I think I messed it up as I didn’t put a pin in the tensioner hole to release the tension so all that tension was on that bolt that snapped
