I put side exhausts from Hardin Marine on my Donzi Regazza 25. I followed a lot of your instructions and the job went perfectly. For a boat that is rare. Thanks for the video.

The templet was the key. That was a great suggestion. I took my exhaust tips put them on my copy machine and copied the exterior end of the pipe to make my template out of and it worked perfect. It also copied the inside where the exhaust comes out so that made it easier getting the template cut out exactly where it needed to be. And yeah it is scary cutting two big holes in your boat down there the water line. I wish the manufacturers would send templates that would make things a lot easier and quicker.

@Winmacguy No need to remove the manifolds. Just the turn downs after the manifold. Everything was done with the engine in the boat, and was a very easy installation.

It has a diverter for the Corsa system. If you do a straight through exhaust, yes you have to remove the y pipe and block it off.

  • @Hardcorediver44

Get yourself a roto zip for the next time. Makes easy work in 1/3 the time in cutting. And since its high speed, no gelcoat flaking.

Its best not to have both battery's on the drivers side ,with the drivers weight and the battery"s weight you will have a listing problem. All in all you did a great job reverse building that Sea Ray. I built Sea Ray boats for over 10 years at the Oxford Michigan plant and building on the assembly line was much easier than your project so hats off to you for doing a great job.

did you have to block off the hole from the y pipe when you installed the thru hull exhaust? I have an alpha one with a 454 and i want to do thru hull exhaust.

Understand the install process as I am going thru the same thing with my 1976 Fiberform ... but, have a question re the wall thickness itself. Was the fiberglas sidewall thickness enough to support the exhaust assy as well as the tubing and tolerate the stresses and strains put on the sides of the boat during operation? Did you consider adding reinforcing on the inside of the sidewall??

I'm just scrolling through some videos I don't know if you know now but they have jigsaw blades with reverse teeth that are for cutting formica and counter tops which also can be used on fiberglass, and they will not chip the surface of what you're cutting but you probably figured that out I'm sure

Invest in an Oscillating tool...Well worth the money and will quickly become your #1 cutting tool. @15:50 I notice it appears that you cut your opening a little to much and had no haul to bolt through but rather barley grabbed. Not being nit picky (ok I am) but after the phenomenal and professional job you did with the floor rot project I was a little let down here. They look and sound great think maybe you rushed the project and now have to live with the minor mistakes......

Don't know if you still get these comments . Next time get a small ball peen hammer and with the ball end tap that inside of the circle opening and as you do that it will cut he cardboard just a slick as willie and that sir is how you make gaskets for anything odd shaped . you then take the cardboard to the cork gasket material and trace it out . Thank you . Small ball peen ..

I have installed more than a few captains call , Have you ever heard of a hole saw I would suggest you invest in a few . And why the hell you would come out the sides other than out the rear is besides me . I think that you go out of the way to make things more difficult for no other reason then to have over thought shit so much it now becomes a cluster fuck . What benefits people doing restorations is experience to not go down some of the wrong roads you have traveled . I think its great for you to experiment on your boat . that being said I think you thinking that you are teaching someone something is a falsehood .. I promise you that if a person goes through the transom and uses the proper sealant you will not have transom rot . What about your though transom gimbal housing did you not cut a large hole in your transom . Like a said you make things harder than they need to be . why install a captains call to begin with so that the engine performs better . No ! So it sounds cool Yes . Just as think all this talk you do sounds cool when if you knew what you were doing to begin with the boat would have been done months ago . Instead you want to teach people all the mistakes . Teach them the correct way the first time
