Why is it not supposed to be comfortable? No one is asking for prisons to be 5 star hotels. But prisons have to comply with human rights of inmates (proper food, access to hot water for bathing, the right to shave, heating during winter, being presentable for trial, visitation rights, reading materials, exercise, etc. and before we get carried away by thinking that hardened criminals should not be given some of these rights as "punishment" for their crimes, remember that these rights are afforded to the prison system in totality. This means that even you may find yourself being in need of these rights if you are ever detained while awaiting trial just because you were caught speeding in a car, or got into a fight with someone trying to mug you, or you matched the description of a wanted suspect, etc.

The truth is the justice system in south africa is a bad TV show..the law of the land depends on who you are. For bester he embarrassed the correctional system and now he is being treated on that fact. All persons should be treated equally and given the same rights. But because south african justice system is a system of payback, persons are treated as to how the system wishes to treat them.

Eish .. criminals in South Africa. Many walk the streets on bail for serious crimes some are in prison innocent and some even live like kings while in prison . We don’t really know what to make out of the Bester case and his . We can only criticise him while we well and truly know that corruption in the prison system is still there
