I could listen to you just talk like this all day. I go through insomniac episodes. When i do, i have you on a playlist while i am in and out of sleep. This ensures mt subconscious AND conscious brain ensures the fundamentals that you share are imbedded deeply as a default. I just rewatched this video. Got a male standard a month ago and his biting is out of control. He’ll just jump on me from behind and rip things. So I’ve started doing what you instructed ur wife to do and it made him tho k twice. Thanx so much for your videos. You’re the best trainer I’ve come across. Someone who actually makes sense and your instructions work. My breeder said he was submissive but not so with me. But he will soon be so. And ur right-an out of control puppy= an out of control dog.

This is deep, you are really taking us to another level with this information. Thank you for sharing

from every trainer ive watched i learned at least something from ceaser i learned that a good trainer or handler must be confident from victoria stillwell i learned that training needs to be a mix of strict but fun from brandan macmillan i learned the importance of teaching the 7 common commands from joel i learned that its sometimes ok to allow dogs to correct each other as long as you still have control from you i learned how important it is for humans to do their homework on breeds and the training required and how you need to put feelings aside sometimes when training.

Thank you for this. I adopted a shepherd mix at 6 weeks, and at 7 weeks he was biting, growling, and lunging. Another puppy trainer online said don't be harsh, you will scare it, always redirect. My dog lunged at me again instead of being redirected. So glad for this video. I know lay him on his side with light pressure on his neck. He screamed like i was about to kill him the first timw but i didn't let him up. Then after licked me and laid nicely in my lap. Now he's 9 weeks and he quiets down right away when i have to put him on his side.

Hey Larry. Thank you for the video, so many informations for free! As you talk about motivating the dog, what do I do if my dog is really hard to motivate. He is not really into play and hasnt the best food drive.

Always love your videos Larry, and I have learned a lot from you. Just something I've noticed, you can kind of be unclear at times when explaining. For example, you said earlier in the video that the time to correct is not when walking a puppy on a leash and they should just explore, then you said later in the video that the dog should be right by your side when walking. I assume you are meaning when walking an adult dog? It would be help to know right around which age to start doing this!

And of course especially I would love to see this As you say without using any tools no Prong no E-collars

I enjoyed your discussion about dog walking. How do you train a dog to want to be close to you during the walk? How do you train the release? You philosophy seems sounds, now how do I put it into action? What is the 10-minute lesson?

Thank you for the amazing information! Just a suggestion on a topic I think would be helpful educating first time dog owners: what are realistic and unrealistic expectations to have for a puppy up until adult dog stages? It's hard sometimes to know if I'm expecting too much perfection from my 5 month old pup or if I'm on the right track :)

I rarely use the word no. When karma is in a crooked Hill I say wrong and she fixes her self. Or when ever I ask for a command and she offers another behavior I say wrong and she restarts and does what I had originally asked

Larry I think that’s fantastic that you can teach a dog to walk in 10 minutes especially a very overreactive dog! Can you show this? Do you have a video already showing this or can you make one? I think it would benefit many people to see this! Thx

@Larry Krohn Do you correct a puppy for playbiting humans? I say no, and redirect to a toy. I know that this won’t get rid of the behavior, but he is not doing it out of aggression. It’s very clearly out of play. Is there a better way to teach a puppy what it can bite on and what it can’t?

Great video and perfect timing!! I let my pup be a pup, especially with the lead. I have a 30 ft and let her explore like crazy and when she comes towards me she gets a treat. She is now 5 months, should I start with some healing or continue to let her explore?

Hey Larry, I really admire your work, I just have a quick question if possible. Concerning the walks part ( @30:00 ) .. Does that apply to 6 month old puppy as well? I haven’t introduced much structure on our walks except recalls which could be better, he constantly checks in with me eye contact tho even 10-15 ft away (esp if I stop walking) I usually mark that moment and he’ll run back for a reward and then go back sniffing and being a dog I guess. Am I setting him up for failure in the future?

Larry, as far as biting and jumping go, do you correct every single time this happens, even, in the case of biting, if it is play biting? I have a Catahoula and she's a biter, especially when she's in play mode. You mention in this video about your Rottweiler "biting with intent." Is there a line somewhere between a puppy being a puppy and "biting with intent" that's distinguishable?

I don’t think there’s a line. I’m done with the puppy biting cuz that shit hurts. I’m teaching none! Only with bones and toys.

Joel and Jay may i know their family name?

I know this is off topic but I’m really hoping to get an answer because I don’t want to make a mistake. I’m about to get a puppy. I work 6 days on-12 hr shifts, then have 8 off. I’ll have lots of time for pup on days off. My husband is retired and home all the time. So pup won’t be alone or neglected when I’m at work. But if I’m the primary person working with training the pup, will it end up having abandonment or bonding issues from me being gone for a stretch every 8 days?

It shouldn’t. As long as your husband works with him enough when you’re gone he should be fulfilled & view both of you as “the fun one”

We have a GSD that was the same up until 7 months old (scruffed him, rolled him on his side, tried everything) - and he was getting to big to let it continue. Hes not an aggressive dog, just being an ass-h0le - he 100% knew he shouldnt bite, but the correction wasnt harsh enough and he didnt care. One day he tried to bite my teenage son and I marked it with a no, took him to the ground and beat him over the head with one of his rubber toys for 10 seconds (not hard enough to injure him, but to hurt him). He only tried it one other time, I marked it, told him down and took out the toy and gave him one bonk on the head and he calmed right down. Never had a problem since, he loves me, my sons and wife and he loves his rubber toy (and is now a 16 month fantastic sweet trained dog). In our situation, the correction had to be harsh enough to fix the behavior.
