In this video, our MEYLE experts Jörn and Michael show you how to properly replace a hydraulic power steering pump and avoid mistakes. It is important that you follow these steps:
1. Replace the old hydraulic fluid (by turning the steering wheel; use vehicle-specific oil)
2. Replace the filter (in most vehicles, the filter is part of the expansion tank)
3. Pre-fill the new hydraulic pump
4. Install the new hydraulic pump
5. Bleed the system (by turning the steering wheel; use vehicle-specific oil)
These work steps apply to all vehicles with a mechanically driven hydraulic pump. Please also observe the manufacturer’s specifications. As always, the pumps are subjected to MEYLE engineers' technical quality inspection and are therefore 100% quality assured.
