Indeed, keep the plastic on the plexiglass. Sell it to architecture students

You're right about selling that stuff. So many people who are crafters, teachers, fix it people, can use that type of organizers.

Such a waste as you say ,would it not be an idea to ask around the different thrift stores in your area if they would like to buy some shop display stuff and next time you find some drop some off at the drift stores and make a few bucks

Those plastic sleeves are excellent for protecting paper items in the post. I used to sell comics on Ebay and even though these ones you found would be too small for regular size comics, they could be used to weather proof and protect postcards or small booklets or pamphlets, even beer coasters, that type of thing. Good score

Once again would love to have those acrylic displays. Great windshields for models as well as other crafts.

I don't think dumpster diving is illegal. The case Greenwood v. California (Supreme Court case) made taking things from trash bins legal, as long as the bin is readily available to the public, not in someone's backyard. When stuff is thrown into bins, the owner relinquishes all ownership. A lawyer could probably offer more specifics, but those people challenging you are just jerks.
