Coronavirus: Raab urges UK public not to ruin lockdown progress - BBC News

Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab has urged the public to stay indoors over this Easter weekend, telling people: "Let's not ruin it now."
He said after almost three weeks of lockdown "we are starting to see the impact of the sacrifices we've all made."
Mr Raab said it was still "too early" to lift the restrictions.
A total of 7,978 people have now died in hospital after testing positive for coronavirus, up by 881 on Wednesday.
Speaking at the government's daily briefing, Mr Raab said a decision on whether to ease the lockdown measures would not come until "the end of next week".
He was deputising for the prime minister, who remained in hospital but was moved out of intensive care on Thursday evening.

I work in social care. I have to go in every day not knowing if I have the virus, but am asymptomatic. I've today had guidelines from work telling me to keep at least 2m apart from clients and co-workers as much as possible. What? I have to feed these people. I have to administer meds to them. I have to get them up, wash them, dress them, change their incontinence pads. How can I do any of that from 2m away? They have multiple learning disabilities and severely-compromised immune systems. If I give the virus to them without knowing, THEY WILL DIE. Why are members of the government and the Royal family getting tested, but not care workers? Does it not matter if our clients die? Maybe that's the plan. Saves the State having to pay for their care.

And meanwhile Boris takes up an ICU bed space just to have oxygen therapy that he could have had in an ordinary ward (or not at all, if he wasn't Prime Minister!). Meanwhile people sufferring equally life threatening illnesses and diseases other than Coronavirus aren't getting ANY treatment. Something's WRONG somewhere. THIS is what happens when governments cut back on Health Care in real terms for 20 to 30 years and privatise it off behind our backs. You end up with NO real "care" system at all for the common people. Welcome to the 21st century UK.

@@petervick4775 that's what they want all the old people to sign DNR forms to get rid of them, have a look at BBC Somerset they are now starting to pick on autistic people to sign DNR also, I suppose they will pick on people suffering from mental health problems next, then they won't stop until they have picked on anyone who's taking medication, then we won't need NHS

Just seen a survey on the BBC website with very bad implications. Can you possibly do a survey with more than 2250 participants before you start catastrophising, please? I'm sure there's not a huge discrepancy, but you surveyed 0.03% of the nation. It's impossible to determine a conclusion about _anything_ from such a ridiculously miniscule percentage of any group. You could be accused of extrapolating from insufficient data, and surely that's not something an institution the general public looks to for information would want to be known for? There's such a thing as journalistic integrity, and surely THAT IS something you should be striving for.

I can understand staying at home not easy but going out and making more worse, gone spoiled aur all efforts which every single one sacrificed. Even my self and so family staying at home completely lock aur self in door seens first day of the lockdown. There are 2 types of countries now; 1. The countries who mass test to identify possible positive cases, isolate them from the general population, aggressive contact tracing and surveillance(sometimes paid and monitored quarantine of contacts), and early treatment. They also have some form of border control measures. The countries which have used this strategy have slowed transmission, and low death rates 2. Then we have countries who limit testing, you can only get tested unless you are critically ill at the hospital or if you are Prince (or a PM), even frontline staff who come into contact with vulnerable patients are denied testing, zero contact tracing, advice to 'stay at home' knowing very well a lot of people are simply irresponsible, asymptotic super spreaders moving around, no form of border control. Even when there are suspected cases the advice is to simply 'stay at home' and as a result there are people dying at homes, or these people have to go out for necessities. The countries which have used this strategy have seen high transmission rates and high death rates.

Shes a working supervisor and they weren't happy about coming into work so all ended up snapping at each other called my mum a waste of space and she should bring them in just now and all had a big fight in staff room and walked out! So that's one ward down in the local main hospital here all because they had to open another ward for infected people there all getting to scared to be in work around it so this is inside information for you all! I'm disgusted and feel so sorry for my mum left crying and doesn't know what to do with all this now as she maybe have to close the ward ! Shes had to stay off today as she has no staff to come In to the ward and today is time and a half and tomorrow double time! They never refuse the weekend they make a weeks pay in 2 mornings up there but that's a big shock to me them refusing the money to come in to work! People are saying this will make people be better people and kinder to other etc etc! From what iv seen this week everyone is being to break and snapping at everyone for the smallest thing! It's not good the fights In town today my mum said was pretty bad too someone said to someone to wait in li e and got grabbed by the throat and cracked in the puss! Its starting to get bad now!

If the UK government were genuinely concerned about this, why didn't they immediately close borders and implement quarantine for a month? We are an island nation, it would have been easier and considerably cheaper to do that (surely this is also a practised procedure) No doubt they looked upon it as a good way of thinning out the old and infirm (we've been hearing for years that longer life expectancy is leading to crisis levels)

He keeps saying ‘thank you for your sacrifices’ Let’s be real - while things are inconvenient and we are missing people we’d normally be with in person, it’s NOTHING compared to losing someone you love permanently, knowing they died alone in a Hospital. We have food, warmth, telephones, iPads and TV as a minimum. It’s not exactly hardship is it???? The only sacrifices are being made by key workers. Not getting pissed with your mates in the pub to save lives is hardly a sacrifice. It’s the least you can bloody do!!!

If Cora antibodies accuracy is less and you cannot get refund. I have a solution, you can do 3 test of each person and of two test are positive or even one test is positive there is more probability that the person will be positive. I think the problem with kits can be that some strips will be missing antibodies detection from a drop of blood so they will be giving false negative to positive people while they cannot give positive to negative people. As problem with these kits is that due to less sensitivity all these kits might not be detecting small amount of antibodies from a drop of blood. Like this we can increase accuracy of tests.

Every country should have followed Taiwan's advice. The numbers show that (5 deaths and less than 329 cases). Anyone with half a brain and internet could have seen this coming 3 months ago. The UK Government should have at least stopped flights back in December. People can STILL fly directly from hot spots such as Italy and New York without any checks and asymptomatic cases could be flooding in. Hope they cotton on to this sooner rather than even later than it already has been.

"After all that, I do not see that one can blame the majority of Germans who, in 1933, believed that the Reichstag fire was the work of the Communists. What one can blame them for, and what shows their terrible collective weakness of character clearly for the first time during the Nazi period, is that this settled the matter. With sheepish submissiveness the German people accepted that, as a result of the fire, each one of them lost what little personal freedom and dignity was guaranteed by the constitution; as though it followed as a necessary consequence." If Brexit only one year later the Eu would have paid money to recover the British Industry but now the British people have voted for to pay that the UK has to pay the Brexit and the British economy disaster after the coronavirus crisis. What does this mean? A) The tragedy for the British people - they have to pay the price for the next 500 years. B) They can not fast recover their economy because the world economy is weak. In my opinion, the UK should join the EU as soon as possible to have a chance to survive. The other option is a poor UK for centuries!

💐 Good evening. ( 1 ) According to the Media of Canada, the administration team of the government of UK has been doing the excellent job duty on the showed chart of COVID-19 cases. ( 2 ) Might/Could/Would it, under the condition of the calming-patience-carefulness-ration, be to make the internal definition content of “ LOCKDOWN “ enlarged a little bit ? This means: ( 2-1 ) Those who should stay home must still be at home just like right now. ( 2-2 ) Maybe, it is under the warranty of the the stringent healthy standards that ‘ the self-isolation at home ‘ might be turned into ‘ the self-isolation at the home of workplaces ‘. Let each workplace become one unity quarantine community home no matter how micro-small-big it is. Let all kinks of workers live, work, entertain, enjoy the wonderful spring nature under the open air, ... and also isolated themselves within such a special unity quarantine community home during the period against the corona virus disease. Of course, every worker should meet the demand of the present stringent healthy standard. One workplace can have other workplace return , the other workplace can also let another workplace open. Once the whole economic complexed chains come alive, the whole society would really come alive although there still hardly are the people on the street during such a special time. What might/could/would be seen on the street is the business transforming truck fleet which is composed of the military truck team and the local qualified truck team. At that time, the uncertain risky burns on the shoulders of the government-the central bank-all kinds of capital resources/institutes might/would/could keep going down gradually, dip by dip, just similar to the chart curve picture showed by the media of Canada. Meanwhile, this could/would also raise level of the stringent healthy standard, and a bit more work needs doing. Implementing the true job obligation deal patiently rationally actively with running into the uncertain unclear coming things in order to achieve the double wins, against COVID-19 and in the society and economy. ( 3 ) On the basis of textbooks: ( 3-1 )The commercial bank might/should avoid the possible so-called cash drain under the help of the government and central bank during such a special time. ( 3-2 ) Keep looking around, the commercial bank might have the flexible soft one but avoid sliding into the water with the fluctuating wave or the potential surging wave. ( 3-3 ) The commercial bank might also begin estimating, calculating and set up one possible plan formula: ‘ How to bring back all the loaned staff, all the suspended staff and all the special bonds gradually by gradually, dip by dip, step by step without any burned pain after everything goes normal. ‘ Right or not ? Thanks a lot. By learning ☕️🇺🇸
