The Harris family took dysfunctional to a whole new level on "Corrie". Whilst it made for good watching (at the time), the way the plot played out and ended was more than a little disturbing. Not surprising why Sean Wilson who played Martin Platt strongly objected to the role his character played in this storyline. He wasn't happy at all and the producers took advantage of this by writing him out of the show after twenty years Daughter murders her father, subsequently commits suicide and mother lands in jail. Looking back this whole storyline feels creepy and sickening.

Definitely, not many storylines have come close to theirs, the father and daughter dead and the mother in prison all within a month or so, they give the whites and the kings in emmerdale a run for their money in terms of being dysfunctional

@@ohwell94 I can see the argument from both sides. Katy insisted she was a grown up even though she always behaved stroppy and immature and Tommy was only interested in controlling her entire life and if course that is finally exposed in these scenes not to mention the sick jokes he was always making about Martin having sex with Sarah and Rosie just goes to show what a truly sick twisted sicko he really was.

I think it depends heavily on how old you are when you start the relationship. If you're 20 and your other half is 41 when you start dating then people wont judge but if you're 15 and 36 then it's a big issue.

I cant believe what they turned tommy into. things were never Easy but Tommy was no bully until near the end. when they first arrived things were never easy with witness protection and stuff when all that shit was over they were finally able to live their life as normal by the harries name. The relationship between Katie and martin changed the harris Family for ever. the really change Tommy he went from a normal guy to such monster its like he had a massive personality transplant he got so obsessed with splitting them up he didn't care who he hurt in the process. Calling Angela a fat bitch his own wife he disown Katie at one stage for being with Martin then he disowned Angell for not disowning kaite and he eaven ended with Angela over it.

I don't think Katy should have killed in Tommy in the storyline, it would sounded better if he had a heart attack or something and maybe Katy blamed herself for his death, though after a while her mum convinces her it was her fault. So they decide to have fresh start by moving away and that was the end of the Harris.

The worst thing was they never recovered. she came back to demand that he be the one who should separated from the family instead of her they only got back to getter because it had their kids. The way he went it hadn't been for witness protection we would have been split up years ago. Angela was so cruel about it. Craig would have forgiven Katie in time. what Angela did was so cold. If Katie hadn't killed Tommy he would have Thrown out by Angela and Katie they both loathed him after what he did. Its interesting the way soap characters can under go complete personality trance plants. 1 minet their a normal caring man or woman no different to u or me or any else over a few episodes that person can turn really bad eavn evil.

Tommy really had it coming to him in all fairness but on the other hand who could blame him in being really wound up by his daughter going out with somebody twice her age I wouldn’t accept that in a million years if Katy were my daughter but as for the baby being aborted there was really no need whether you’ve been cheated on or not the baby was totally innocent in all of it

This whole storyline, Tommy did right, what man wants to see their teenage daughter date a man that’s about 20 years older than her. He was right about Martin, he was a pervert, liked Martin though, he was a great character, but this storyline was horrible. I know it’s not real, but Martin should have walked away and been the better man.
