She approved back then but nowadays she glad he’s dead since he tried killing her family.

To be fair he wasn't a murderer at this point. If the idiot had managed his finances properly and told the truth then nobody would have died and they would all have been so happy. I still think Richard was best suited to Gail despite everything though I did notice that he only turned on the family after he lost both his marriage and his marbles and as a result of his own actions.
