Does anybody here remember Vera Duckworth? Remember how she said that we would meet again.. some sunny day. Vera.. Vera..what has become of you? Does anybody else here feel the way I do?? Losing Vera was the beginning of the end for some of our oldies but favorite goodies thesze past years. We have now lost Jack Duckworth as well, and Corry will never be the same again. Thank you Vera.. Thank you Jack.. for bringing to life some of the best coronation Street moments and scenes for all time.

Hope you're improving as time goes on Liz..... I stopped smoking 2 years ago after 20 years of smoking when I bumped into an old friend who was on oxygen, it scared me so much to think about gasping for breath. I really do miss seeing you on Corrie. Sandra, Ontario, Canada

Strong and hard message, but also a very important one. It is a horrible illness, i watched my dear Mum die from this illness in April after five months of terrible suffering. It's hard to quit but i assure you it is even harder to watch a loved one die this way at 55 years old.

It's not even just that rather when smoking it actually (not only oxidative either, what causes huge damage to the body's cells) stresses out the body, practically every single organ including the brain. Rather than what smokers rather foolishly believe ( I know this now even a former smoker, been stopped for nearly a year now) it destresses or relaxes them, it doesn't it does the exact opposite in possibly every single way! Really hope you're doing ok?

I quit using champix in June 09. Aside from it being hard on my tummy , it was like a miracle! I smoked for 28 years! Now I don't even miss it a bit!!

Really intrigued to come across your post about Champix. I have been off cigarettes for nearly 3 months now. I was using Champix but after the 2nd course of champix I packed in the champix as I found it far too hard on my stomach - especially the morning dosage. However although I gave up on the Champix I did NOT give up on trying to give up the smokes as this time I was determined. I smoked for about 25 years and was really starting to feel the damage - eg coughing alot, coughing up some really black ugly looking stuff, awful pains in the chest, wheezing and crackling breathing at night when I was trying to sleep and frequently waking up at 2 or 3 am in the morning due to coughing fits. Strangely enough though - never felt out of breath - even after bolting up a flight of stairs. I thought the damage I had done and the side effects I was experiencing were going to be permanent and I was pretty much done for but after about 2 months of not smoking all those horrible things cleared up !!! I still miss smoking - a little bit and sometimes a bit more than other times but overall not that much and it's manageable, in fact most of the time I don't think about a cigarette anymore - even around other smokers. I did enjoy my ciggies but I never ever ever want to go back to smoking. I don't want to go back to those awful medical symptoms again. I have a lot of friends who have given up and given up for years and they have all said it was the best thing they ever did. I am really starting to see what they mean.

I quit smoking 8 years ago cold turkey after 30 years. It sickens me to smell smoke and even more vape clouds.

I am shocked that someone from the U.K. would use such profane language that is more suited to Americans. You must therefore have a very good reason for doing so. Of course you know "she wins" when you demean yourself by the utterance of such superlatives; besides she is trying to do good by urging young people to not smoke.I wish you well mr.Jameson

I'll never forget the episode when Vera cut the crotch out of all Jack's trousers & through them out the upstairs window unto the street. This after she found out about a little tyrst he had while he was supoosed to be window cleaning...back in the 70's...haha

i think it should be your own choice on weather your character smokes or not because i doubt the directors want you get into a early grave

Bearing in mind Liz Dawn would have started smoking in an era where nearly everyone smoked and it was far more socially acceptable - in fact encouraged even. Look at old tv shows of the 60's and early 70's - nearly everyone smoked - even in Corrie - nearly all the charactors smoked then.

COPD killed my boyfriend Mike three years ago. He wouldn't stop smoking though and continued to the day he died. Heed Liz's advice and don't start smoking, if you do stop now. I rue the day I ever put a cigarette in my mouth...

I smoked 🚬 for 45 years until bypass surgery enabled me to give up smoking 🚬 🚭 Its expensive its filthy and dosnt do you any good and at last the hypocritical attitude towards cannabis is being shown for what it is hypocritical its high time pardon the pun that weed was a lot more use than alcahol and tobacco and should be legal And thanks Dawn you and Jack brought laughter and tears in good measure RIP 🙏
