Woman. Thy worst enemy is woman! Doesn't matter that Gail has a job. She has two staff relying on her (not just Kevin). Doesn't matter that she is bring in money to the household. No, Brian had his fun an has got his son and heir who he is happy to spend time with when it suits him. Gail should be chained to the oven and the nappy bucket! Yup, I get he's building a business but actually, half that business is Gail's she gave up her home to keep that business. Yet Brian must be catered for and have everything his own way. She can't have people to look after his sick son when he wont take his fair turn, she must have his dinner in the table. He can't bring her anything back or sort out any food for her. Oh no, he is God and she is his servant!!!!! Oh yeah Gail, what a selfish, whining good for nothing ungrateful b you are!!!! Elainedoe1981 - you are even worse that Ivy!

Hi if I'm honest with you I stopped watching Corrie after COVID. I can't believe that even now they hardly have anyone in the Rovers. Don't the writers of today's Corrie understand that the Rovers is the main meeting place of coronation Street. That's why so many people are watching the older episodes. Same as EastEnders. A total waste of the TV licence fee. Anyway thanks to KZread we can always watch Corrie in its prime.

I disagree. Gail's job is as important as Brian's. This story line really hits home about the difficulties families face with two working adults and competing responsibilities. There is no easy answer, but at least they had Ivy to look after Nicky part of the time.

The month before, in February 1985, Eastenders had launched on BBC 1 to great acclaim. Coronation Street was being criticised for being stuck in a nostalgic view of the working class, which did not reflect the rather darker realities of 1980s Britain. Eastenders sought to portray a rather darker picture, which seemed more realistic at the time. There had been a number of new characters around this time and it seems they were an attempt to freshen up Coronation Street.

Yes, thanks to those women nobody mothers their own children anymore. We pay strangers who do not love them to merely make sure they stay alive every day. Then we wonder what is wrong with the world. We have generations of kids who had no loving mother around from the time they were three years old. Yay Womens lib, such freedom….punching a time clock, jumping to someone else’s demands, doing a crappy job ANYONE else can do…instead of doing the most important job in the world….raising the next generation. Nobody can replace the mother of a child but ANYONE can do the crappy jobs they go to instead. Who would you rather have when you were a child…your mother or a paid stranger???? Be honest.
