I love the fact that in those days, the action centred on middle aged people, and people in their thirties upward. Hardly a kid or teenager in sight, and I loved that about it.

Me too; and the actors were more passionate about their roles too. Today with Stephan going around killing people and kids drugging drinks in school dances and such it is awful to watch. I know that sometimes it happens but we don't have to be plunged in it day after day.

Really sad watching Bert Tilsley in decline and mirroring a similar fate to the actor Peter Dudley. Watching this back it is tragic knowing that he will be dead in a few months. He played a really decent character.

@irenemorley75. Irene. The actors are the same age as each other, whereas the characters they play are different ages. For example, William Roache is 91 years old. However, Ken Barlow is 81. Eileen Derbyshire is also 91. I'm not sure if, in the story, Emily Bishop is the same age as the actress that plays her or not. However, whilst in real life the actors are the same age as each other, I believe the character of Emily is older than the character of Ken.

Love Emily. Such a god fearing woman and an underrated beauty. Her cheekbones are classic and her eyes are lovely. I actually can’t believe that she hardly any men fancying her when dull and dowdy Mavis had men falling at her feet 😳
Suzie Birchall's sparkle was missing from her second stint in the street. When she first appeared in 1977 and subsequently took up lodgings with Gail at Elsie's she was a breath of fresh air, legendary, brilliant, the character had energy and sparkle. This time around she just happened to be a shadow of her former self, as flat as the proverbial pancake and a complete waste of the script writers time.

In all of Elsie's vast experience of life and men, she failed to learn that gas-lighting narcissists are smooth-talking pathological liars and friends are always given the benefit of the doubt. I was surprised and disappointed that Elsie was taken in by Terry. Given her experience with blokes though, she seems naive after all these years at this point. Suzi gets on my nerves but to have her old friend not believe her husband hit her is a double whammy. The obsession with being married and putting up with abusive behaviour is unreasonable. It's irrelevant how long the resltionship and whether someone is married or not. Some people are so desperate to be in a relationship they accept anything for "the sake of their marriage". Elsie was one big let down on this occasion. Shame on her.
