The same people who claim that they are righteous and are true are the same people who doubts the seat of Peter, established by our LORD Himself. Isn't it not a pillar of the Universal faith to look upon the Blessed Apostle's successor with respect, both for the person and the power he held as Potifex Maximus? The same people who say they abide with the Church's traditions deny the sacredness and power of the Supreme Pontif. The Church had faced many reformations throughout the ages, we are the Universal Church by the way aren't we? Openness while retaining the holiness of the mass, opening new ways for the laity to participate and gaze upon the power of the Eucharist, something now can be more clearly understood but still remain its mystery. The Novus Ordo does not intend to bury sacred traditions but to simply make it more clearer in a world advancing more rapid as ever. It wishes to introduce the blessedness of our beloved traditions in a more 'open armed' manner. If you truly believe in the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church established by Christ Himself through Peter and his successors, you shall always abide by the orders of Bishop of Rome. Good or Bad Pontif, all are in God's plan, as He Himself said that He will not let the gates of Hell penetrate His Beloved Church. If you believe, you abide, you submit. Thank you! I call myself a "Traditionalist Anglican" because I embrace the 39 Articles of Religion, through which the Anglican Church exposed the heresies of Romanism and restored the true Catholic faith. You probably know that many well-known Angicans (including the current Archbishop of Canterbury) have abandoned some of the 39 Articles in deference to ecumenism and/or modernism. The 39 Articles make no reference to the Apostolic Succession because although Anglican bishops are part of this historic succession, such a succession is not central to the Catholic faith. However, if one had to trace a historic Apostolic Succession, it would lead to the Eastern (Orthodox) Church. Historically, the Orthodox Church is the original Church because just as the Sun rises in the East, the Church started in the East, not in the West and Jerusalem is an older See than Rome which is the usurper and pretender predicted in the Apocalypse. Also, the Bible clearly states that Peter was the Apostle to the Circumcised (the East), not to the unCircumcised (the West). At the Great Schism of 1054, the Romanists became the original schismatics. Thus, the idea of the RCC as the continuing church is a false myth. After the Great Schism, the part of the Church which remained papist became a new Church - better called the Western Romanist Church (which continued to call itself "the Catholic Church"). After the glorious Reformation, a new papist Church began again. All those who chose obedience to the Papacy over and above the core "solas" of the Primitive Church (which were restored at the Reformation) became part of a new papist Church (which once again continues to use the misnomer "the Catholic Church"). Protestant/Reformed Christianity is older than Romanism precisely because the restored ethos (the "solas") of the Apostolic Church predates their corruption by apostate Romanism. However, it is not history that is important, but fidelity to Christ, the Word of God. In fact, the import of the clear teachings of Our Lord (see, for e.g., John 8:39), St. John the Baptist (Matthew 3:9-10), and St. Paul (Romans 9:7 ff, Galatians 3:29 ff), etc is that God loves the preservation of a spiritual apostolic succession rather than hankering after a so-called historic succession. Thus, genuine Apostolic Succession is found neither in Romanism nor in Orthodoxy, but in Reformed Christianity (including, pre-eminently, Anglicanism). The Roman Church is apostate, because it has DELIBERATELY rejected God's Word, in the quest of its leaders for MONEY, SEX and POWER.

@@annefranciselizabeth3840 I am very sorry, but there is no such thing as Romanism nor Roman Church. We are the CATHOLIC CHURCH. Some may refer to us as Roman Catholics but that wouldn't make any sense because there are many more rights in the Church than just Roman (Latin). We have the byzantine, coptic, ethiopian, etc. And with the issues of SOME clergy having a "quest" for power, money, sex etc just like how you said, why should we leave the Church, Jesus, just because some of His followers commit grave sins? Will you leave Jesus just because Judas have fallen short of his mission? And with the issue with Apostolic Succession, the Catholic Church dates as far back as the apostle Peter when he preached and was martyred in Rome. We have a record of popes from Peter to Francis, a total of 266 actually. And if you're familiar with St. Ignatius of Antioch, an apostle of St. John, one of the best Church Scholars, and a Church Father, he recognized the authority of the chair of Peter. “Ignatius . . . to the church also which holds the presidency, in the location of the country of the Romans, worthy of God, worthy of honor, worthy of blessing, worthy of praise, worthy of success, worthy of sanctification, and, because you hold the presidency in love, named after Christ and named after the Father” (Letter to the Romans 1:1 [A.D. 110]). “You [the church at Rome] have envied no one, but others you have taught. I desire only that what you have enjoined in your instructions may remain in force” (ibid., 3:1). As always, God bless and stay safe especially in these trying times. Also disbanded the Vatican guards and left only Swiss guards, destroyed the pontifical and Roman nobility, destroyed many traditional elements in sacramentals and promoted or at least didn’t condemn some heresies that were widespread in all of the Catholic world

Last time that a Pope was actually crowned. The coronation of a king used to be a sacrament in the RC church but that also ceased to be. Not sure if that can happen again. Neither do I know when the sacrament was abolished...

It was never a Sacrament, there are seven of them (Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation, Penance, Anointing of the sick, Marriage and Holy Orders), of which none includes king coronation. King coronation was a sacramental, perhaps, as is the scapular or the blessing of anything, and although there could be a ritual like this even in our days, there is no Catholic monarchy that uses it.

All hail the Roman King, leader of Rome in the 20th century. All come to WORSHIP their king. The complete opposite of christianity.

@@thatdude8850 What have I said that people didn't believe for the last several few 1000s of years? Popes clamming authority over our Kings and Princess is a way more modern idea and doesn't make any sense, at least not me. Therefore, I oppose the Coronation ceremony for Popes as I neither agree with the Theology of it or the Political Outlook it entails. I don't want to be ruled by an Italian Prince far away in the Vatican. I prefer the Princes of my own People. Who made the Pope ruler of the World, if not the Pope's own narcissistic pride.

@@adolphCat I think the Divine Right of Kings, the idea that kings derive their authority directly from God, is a more modern idea in the West at least. In the Medieval ages, the kings were indeed seen as God’s representatives but had to also get the legitimacy of the Church which was seen as ultimately God’s community. An excommunicated ruler for example could be deposed legally (if the nobility used it as a justification). Recall that the Pope claimed the right for instance to crown the Holy Roman Emperor and thus claimed the right to deny him that title. Of course, the Church’s approval mattered less when feudalism faded and centralized royal authority and the rise of nation-states began since legitimacy started to be seen as a right of blood. This also mattered even less when the Reformation occurred and half of Europe stopped recognizing the Pope’s authority. In Eastern Europe, indeed it was seen that the rulers got their authority directly from God. This can be seen in the differences in ritual: in the West, a bishop crowns the ruler. In the East, the bishop hands the crown to the ruler and the ruler crowns himself.

However, you left out a vital question who gave the Pope any legitimate authority he possess beyond what any other Bishop has? There is no sacrament that makes a man Pope, the Office of Bishop possess the fullness of the priesthood, so any legitimate authority the Pope has beyond that of any other Bishop has been given to him, by either the State or Church and as such can be removed from him respectively by either the State or Church. The Pope never received from God any authority to depose the Emperor, the Pope never received from God authority over the Church outside of the diocese of Rome, all authority legitimately exercised beyond this has been voluntarily given him by the Church or the Emperor, and can be taken away from him respectively by the Church and or the Emperor.
