I used to holiday here from 1967 until 1971 every Summer with my parents and aunts and uncles and cousins I was 6-10 at the time. We used to rent a small ,or if a load of us, a large house up on the upper cliff road that looks down onto the beach (shown centre of shot at {12:40). The two houses were owned by a lovely old couple called Mr and Mrs Thewlis. They were the best holidays ever. There was also a seal sanctuary off of the slope that leads down to the beach and a Blue Peter lifeboat. We used to feed buckets of fish to the seals who were recovering from injuries. Of course it was not a surf place in those days and the place on the beach now called Breakers was, in the day, a shop called Davy Jones Locker. I have been a Table Top Wargamer all my life and my first packet of 72nd scale soldiers was purchased in that shop as it sold just about everything. I can still remember walking up past the Driftwood Spas holding a very deep yellow Cornish ice cream cone, huge chunks of ice in the actual ice cream, and still to this day the best ice cream ever. I regret that my sister never knew this place as she was born a few months after our last visit. To say that I have a soft spot in my heart for St Agnes is an understatement. To me it was my paradise. One day I hope to go back for nostalgic reasons. I shall show this to my parents who are now 93 and 94. Mum has Dementia and does not remember our numerous holidays here but perhaps this will jog her memory. Thanks for this clip.

Thanks for sharing this Nick & my best wishes to your grandmother. Hopefully will be going back to Cornwall in the Summer & for a longer stay. I lived in Newquay for 4 years in the early 2000s - still have many friends & some family down there. 👍👍
