Cornwall Part 1 - A Visit to Helston

I popped down to Cornwall last week to see my folks and to do some research at various museuams and archives (I'm working on a new book). This entailed visiting Helston, the town in which I spent all of my teenage years. So here's a whistlestop tour of a few of Helston's streets, notable buildings and curiosities (there are a lot more I didn't have time to visit). Expect wells, pasties, good ales with an old school chum called Rick, Daleks and lots of bloody hills. As a kid I had calves like a bison.
As always, more content on my blog here: colganology2.b...

What an opening! :)The older I get the more cities everywhere look the same. It's deligtful when at least smaller settlements kept some local charme.

The navy attempted to teach me how to drive primarily around Helston. Didn’t pass but I did get to see a fair bit of it. Nice town. 🙂

Thanks Steve. A great trip down memory lane of our home town.. The Guildhall is looking a bit worse for wear. Tim G-K should get someone to power wash it. Love the shots of the band and the Blue.😀💗

My grandfather lived on the corner at the bottom of nettles hill I passed the chippie daily as I had dinner and spent time with him through all my senior school years, and would then walk back to gwealhellis school for afternoon lessons. Occasionally he would get me to call in the betting shop to put a bet on a horse for him.
