You can say that again. This can be used for history lessons.
Fascinating to have this. You'd never know of the battles going on just over the Channel with the lady water-colourist dabbing away.
Interesting to think how very unlikely that generation never ventured up north probably never left Cornwall. How time changes. Fascinating piece of film. Wonder what future generations will think when they view our generation with our little phones to our ears ignoring one and other.

I'd move back in a heartbeat
Both my grandparents were born in Truro around this time and lived in Falmouth then moved to South Africa. I always heard about Cornwall and my Gran always made Cornish Pastries. A 100 years later I have return to UK and will be visiting Cornwall for the 1st time in July. I cant wait to go back to my roots and see beautiful Cornwall. This video shows how they would have remembered it.

Thank you so much. This is the Cornwall I would loved to have seen. Nowadays it has been over manicured and sanitized. Still though it is one of the most beautiful places.
Absolutely amazing footage - loved seeing the two fountains in Morrab Gardens and the two ladies walking by in their long dresses. Thank you so much for sharing.

Wow 1916 my grandfather was somewhere in the mud & blood of the somme or verdun. Lovely footage.
Fabulous footage. Wonderful to think that my grandparents who were children at that time may have been amongst those on the film. This would have been half way through the Great War, and people were just going about their business whilst their loved ones were being killed in their thousands abroad.
Amazing wow 😮 at my age my grandparents would of lived in these times and my parents just a new born , . Great to see how it used to be . Thankyou for taking the time to put this together . I love it . ❤️👍

The speed correction is perfect. People moved so naturally.
Fascinating. In the St.Ives section I used to lease the right hand part of the White Hart Hotel (behind the fisherman's hut) as a bakery shop circa 1977. Fish Street has been widened since those days as well.
Wow ! Brilliant footage. If you freeze / pause the video at 1:24, you would think it's the 1960's / 1970's - not 104 years ago !!

We have the things here and we don't live near the sea. You can have them.
We use to go to Polperro as a kid in the 60s . The family would stayed up on the hill at Killigarth Manor caravan site and every day for two weeks I would walk down to the village via a back dirt rd only stopping on the way back to drink from the most refreshing clearest water I have every had in my life! Beauty at its best!
Brilliant. That really brings things to life. And I guess the dubbing took quite some time. Gobsmacked at the footage.
Thank you for this! Beautifully done! Thank you!
Thank you so much for uploading this. It is so brilliant to see the County of old.
A wonderful piece of history. I have never lived there only had yearly holidays since the early 1960's. It is amazing so much of what one sees now is still there just magical. thank you

Wow that was fascinating, thank you!
This is fantastic. Thank you.
Anyone else notice the cameraman filming as the Cornish luggers were heading out to fish? Incredible to think how being the second most exposed piece of coastline in britain and with our renowned winter and spring storms battering out coast and how the seas around our cornwall can change so fast, how brave our ancestors were as they rowed out from out harbours! No motors to quickly head in again....
Just brilliant....what a jewel. You did a great job. Thanks

One word amazing footage thank you.
Amazing and beautiful. Brilliant to see the people! 💖
Thank you very much, amazing
Brightening up old black and white images in color is the trend and then immediately adding appropriate music. But these film images are only accompanied by natural sounds of seagulls. That is a relief, thanks! As if we were entering a time capsule. To know that none of those children is alive is saddening...
Awesome footage ..⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Enys Dodman arch at the end is amazing to see, it's still there today although you can see it's been eroded a fair amount, great job!
What an exceptional and vital part of Cornish heritage , really beautiful , loved the little boy holding dearly onto his equally little dog friend , very poignant ;D
Beautiful and treasured film so amazing that it has become colour,my father was born in 1913,so I can get a picture of what life was like whilst he was growing up
Amazing work. At 2:28 can be seen Cox and Co, Engineers and Shipbuilders. They built tugs and trawlers among other types, including several paddle steamers for use on the Amazon.

Brilliant - some places are still very recognisable
I liked the rowing-boats headding out to fish and meeting the sea, which will always win! Someone said above that this was made when all manner of horrors was occuring in Flanders Fields. Some things havent changed in the film.
Fascinating
if only i could go back in time...i would be in bliss
How the **** can there be three dislikes on this wonderful old footage? OK, I can understand someone not being too interested, moving on without leaving a like, but to take the time to leave a thumbs down just mystifies me. Could the seagulls have annoyed three folk that much?😁 I can't be certain but I'm pretty sure these were not 1916 seagulls. If they are a later addition, maybe they should be sent to whereever seagulls get sent.😁 Other than the gulls, this was some fantastic footage and was probably some cutting edge stuff at the time. The camera was getting some mighty suspicious looks. Of course, filming a load of kids in a Cornish village today would probably get you 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 than looks. Great piece of film; thanks for sharing it.👍👌😁 Cheers for now, Dougie. P.S. Good work with the colour too.

Lovely to see.I am fairly sure the group of fishing sailing boats will have (& still do) dull red/ maroon sails. I think they can only fish the inshore water by sailboat
Wonderful an excellent job. Have these places changed much, I wonder?
The first scene of Looe with the boy sitting on 'little pier'; I have sat there many times and jumped off that pier many more. Thanks for the memories. The second scene is not Looe.
I bet Cornish was spoken by most then, and was alive and well. Sad it died out, but glad it's making a recovery slowly.

The colouring is First class, movie is far to damage to clean up of all the print damage. Only way to increase resolution would be to scan the original print, beyond that it's just upscaling.. eg you can't add much to what isn't there from the source file. This looks good, I lived here and recognise many of the places, You'd be surprised how little some of it has changed, you can easily tell where it is, if you're familiar with the area

The Victorians/Edwardians loved Newquay, I'm sure I saw a few on the Newquay clip .
This is where many of my ancestors are from, I would love to return to live there.
Do you have any footage of St Eval ? I live in Cornwall ,I loved the lady painting and all the men giving her daggers it's really funny, if only we could turn the clock back .
This is fantastic I was born in Redruth Ty must say I did laugh at the Cornish man wearing a bowler hat.
Looked like a steam powered crane around the two minute thirty second mark
Meanwhile just across the water, thousands of boys from these same villages were being cut to ribbons by German machine guns... I bet their last thoughts were of a different din. Not of cries and bombs, but of Gulls and crashing waves... and whispers in a lovers ear. Final moments spent longing for this sweet yet salty serenity. RIP My Great Grandfather Cpl William Barrows 13126 6th Bn Oxford and Bucks Light infantry. Killed on the 2nd of June of the same year this was filmed, on the first day of The Battle of Mont Sorrel, whilst trying to get a line to a pocket of stranded Canadians. He now lies next to his friend Arthur Coke Thomas, and the brave Canadians at The Bedford House Cemetery Belgium. Rest in peace all these brave lions of men... We shall not forget, nor shall we ever surrender the freedoms they died for. ⚔️
These films should be shown in schools, so kids could go to these villages on day trips to measure and observe first hand that sea levels haven't risen a single inch in over 100 years.
The good old days.
Really good colorization and you haven't added some naff music soundtrack.
Such a pity the people back then couldn't have experienced this in glorious colour. And why was that wreck of a sunken boat chained up, I don't think it was going anywhere.
