I love how he always just stands there still while singing, without any movement. Some might say he's such a bland and lifeless singer - but to me it makes all the sense in the world. He doesn't need to move or dance around or make gestures - he literally can just stand there and sing and captivate the audience. God, I love this band.

Still listening in 2019 A long time friend of mine, IRL, from India, shared this song and version with me in the 90's. 😳 2015, I shared it with my friends online, in England whom I've never met. 🌈 Thank you *so* much. Love from Michigan USA 💜 Peace ✌

first time I heard this, oh so many years ago, I thought it was an extremely political statement. To take a song by the most english of english bands, a band who had taken (borrowed if you'd rather) that instrumentation and then resold it back to the english as their own... like the Stones did with the Blues...to take that back and then return it fully formed... wow... incredibly powerful...

I mean, except for the fact that Cornershop is a British band. Tjinder Singh was born in Wolverhampton. So it's an English band covering an English band's song. Selling it "back" to the British is a bit of a stretch.

Kinda misses the point for me. I loved the fact it was a blend of 2 musical cultures whereas this is almost like its being reclaimed for the indian aesthetic alone. Also his singing dont touch John's by a mile. Not reallybad tho.
