Cornershop - Brimful of Asha - Official Music Video (Original) (Tjinder Singh)

Музыка

Cornershop continue strongly on their very own label ample play records at cornershop.com This original Brimful of Asha was part of Spin Magazines No1 Album of The Year, & also No.1 in John Peels, BBC Festive 50 - high praise. But it is to this album and others by Cornershop that we would like you to turn, for they have continued to come out with groundbreaking fresh albums - they have become known 'as the greatest cult band of the last 20 years', & each one of these albums have been known as 'criminally underrated'. As good as this praise is, we would like it to be as upbeat as this group can make people feel. Only yesterday someone tweeted 'Both my kids are big Cornershop fans. Louis (8) thinks it's also the best name ever'. We are gaining new supporters & urge you to support us. Please also check out other tracks from CornershopHQ on KZread, our website at www.cornershop.com, learn more about their evergreen musical catalogue, follow us on twitter..etc...This independent, self released band needs your independent self - please join us, & help spread the word:

hi @Philzy2k7 thanks for that. No we are not annoyed, how can we be, it's like asking Norman if he's annoyed that it was his most famous hit? We like both versions, and we are very happy that as people mature in their years they start to go more for the original. Moreover, its a song that represents the group quite wholly - the love of vinyl plastic records, with politics about not caring about Government warnings, that will always be relevant, whatever your years. Time is on our side.

Haven't heard this in a while, unexpectedly brought tears to my eyes and the smell of CK One to my mind. 1997, but feels like yesterday and a million years ago all at once for me the second this song started. That was a rough time in my life, but I knew some great people. Really something how much life can completely change in not even 20 years. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time for just a day to take pictures. Memories fade, but songs like this bring them back like nothing else.

I remember the first time I heard this song. I was in line at Six Flags waiting to ride a roller coaster. Just as we got to the front of the line, this song came on the overhead speaker. I was so amazed by it, I had to stop and step out of line to listen to it. Pretty fine song, make a guy pass up a ride on a roller coaster! I wish I understood Double-O Groove -- but I love the music. Every album has been excellent, and I'm glad you guys came back! Thanks!

This song brings me back to North Carolina late 1997 early 1998 hearing this song on the radio. 1998 I moved back to Duluth Minnesota and asked around about this song and people people said "Brimful of Asha 45?" I don't know what you are talking about. Glad I found this after sixteen years of not hearing it.

This song is based upon the history of film culture in India. Since their introduction, Indian films have relied heavily on song-and-dance numbers. Almost always, the singing was performed by background singers while the actors and actresses lip-sync. Asha Bhosle is one of these playback singers who has sung over 12,000 songs. Playback singers Lata Mangeshkar (her older sibling) and Mohammad Rafi (one of the top male playback singers of the mid-century) are also mentioned in the song-Wikipedia

when this first came out, heard it 3 or 4 times on Edge 102.1 in Toronto. totally catchy and uplifting, but back then almost impossible to nail down the name of a song. On Feb 10, on the drive home on CBC 2 (older now, with kids 11 and 7 - who obviously didn't exist when the song first came out), heard the song while my wife was trying to tell me an important story. didn't hear a word; went online, found the song and bought it on iTunes. Have been very happy ever since - spreading the word!
