That bank of Montreal has been in that spot for years. I remember it as a boy back in the 60s. My sister was a teller there.

I love Corner Brook. I live about an hour-drive away but spend a lot of time there for work functions...We're usually put up in the Greenwood across the road which is nice but wow...The Hew and Draw is beautiful. Great video, subbed for more.

Very nice video! I grew up in Corner Brook and moved away after high school 33 years ago. It is unbelievable how you can do that walk and see (almost) no other pedestrian! Even on West Street, it is very car-centric.

@@TRwalks From what I could see on your route was a fairly new City Hall/Library that is on the site of what was a very old and large multi-departmental Co-Op. On this particular route, many of the stores are different but the buildings they are in seems to remain pretty much the same. I have been back a couple of times and did notice that there have been newer developments and larger construction projects away from that particular area. West St, Main St, Herald Ave and Broadway are very much identical looking. Great job!

I grew up there . A couple of nice walking trails . One starts by the city hall and goes up to Margaret Bowater park and follows the Cornerbrook stream way up past the pipeline.. The city is very car-centric and the crowd in CITY hall hasn't clued into the bicycle infrastructure yet . You can drive around on atvs but they are on the noisy side . I would much prefer some decent bicycle lanes but they can't be used for a couple of months in winter because Cornerbrook gets a lot of snow .

grew up in this town ive walked this same walk at least once a week for 20 years.

Can you offer any tips on the quieter neighbourhoods there? Do many homes use those noisy heat pumps? We're moving there.

Hi Daniiea. Unfortunately, in the city their isn't many quiet places. However, the farther away from the downtown area tends to be a little more quieter. As for homes. You should contact a realtor. Thanks for your comment 🙏🏻

The papermill there has a loud steam whistle and this tradition is probably a hundred years old . The whistle signals shift changes and fire warnings. Three long whistles in a row and there's a fire at the mill .

Hi Benjie, thanks for watching. To answer your question. Yes, Corner Brook is wheelchair accessible for the most part. Downtown and all the major buildings are wheelchair accessible. But, as you go farther away from downtown where the hills become steeper. The roads and sidewalks are not as maintained. Also, some of the smaller (Mom & Pop) stores may not be accessible. Hope this answers your question.

That won't hinder me at all. I still can use crutches sometimes to get into tricky or smaller spaces. But yeah, your video is making me start falling in love with Corner Brook. One of the reasons I do these videos is to try and help people get a small understanding of an area so they can make a better decision on if they would like to visit the place. If you are looking for some nature areas that are wheelchair accessible. I have two videos. One video of a trail in Corner Brook. It is located downtown and is easy to access. However, there is one spot that you will have to cross over a pipe (not wheelchair friendly) and some steep hills that may be a little slippery if there are a lot of leaves on the ground. Second video is “Humber River Trail” in Deer Lake, Newfoundland (close to the airport). The trail is wheelchair accessible (in the video there are trees down because I did the video a couple days after a hurricane ended). Again, the trail may be slippery if a lot of autumn leaves are on the ground.

Thanks for watching. There was when I went to school at the college... But, that was 20 years ago. I think the bus runs up and down Mt. Bernard Ave. It's walkable from there.

The hotel room could use a few more pictures and a little more character, warmth and charm. Man, will I ever see this minimalist garbage die off in my lifetime, I cannot put into words how I passionately, hate it. Well, it looks a hell of a lot nicer than St. John's, where I live, from what I see in your video here. No noticeable, trash anywhere, and not many run down buildings. Sadly, even though it is the capital, St. John's is going, completely, to the dogs. It really, is becoming a terrible place to live. The poverty here, the insane prices of everything, too much of the town being allowed to fall into disrepair. Terrible. Also, don't mind calling this place a town, as that is EXACTLY, what it is, same case with St. John's. We have NO, ACTUAL, CITIES, in Newfoundland ANYWHERE, and it's time we stop deluding ourselves that this is so. By all other, North American Standards, all we have is medium to moderate size TOWNS, nothing more. But as far as towns go, this one looks reasonably, nice. Also, if the government of Newfoundland was worth its salt at all, we would have MORE, such towns, scattered throughout the province, as the overwhelming, majority of Newfoundland REMAINS, RURAL, FISHING, VILLAGES, and nothing more, then beyond that, pristine or mostly pristine, wilderness. That is Newfoundland in a nutshell, as it has been for hundreds of years now. 15:07 - Never wise to have a one industry town. Never wise to be THAT, dependent on just, the ONE, source of revenue like that. Corner Brook needs to start to diversify if it is to survive and grow into the future. That goes for most towns around Newfoundland. My Best. Out.
