You would think Josh would get out on deck and do whatever it takes to make his boat successful, including doing whatever it takes not to lose 500k in new gear & crab. In all the years watching, I have never seen either one get on deck when they were short handed.

@@nancystrong7888 I think at this point it's a money thing. I don't think Josh has saved enough yet to buy out Casey's half of the ownership and at this point we're not told how Casey feels about selling his half or if he even still wants to. Maybe they've agreed to just work like this for the foreseeable future because it's 50 50 profit, still a nice chunk of change per season, plus you're doing half the job of a real captiain. You do half the work, get half the money but have more time to just chill in the co-captain chair .. more free time etc.. it sounds crappy but that's the life of a captain. Seems like they've found a good deal that works well for the both of them. Can't fault them for that lol.

Having not seen this whole episode, I don't know what they did. I remember that Josh was a pretty good deck hand, so as soon as the first deckhand was injured, Casey should have told Josh to suit up, instead of debating what they are going to do. Maybe they were doing it for dramatic effect for the cameras, but putting Josh on deck should have been the first thing they did.

I certainly hope he gets better and finds some joy in life instead of drugs and alcohol. At this point, he does remind of guys like Antonio Brown. I doubt anything will change his behaviour. His dad Phil talked to Jake about substance abuse. I know for me that would be it. I would feel so ashamed and wish to make it right so much for my family that would drive change in me. Not for nothing but there are two experienced fishermen in the wheelhouse. No doubt one of them can leave and help out on the deck. In all of the years watching, I only seen Josh go out there once to help out when fishing was unbelievably fantastic and he wanted to be a part of it. I have never seen either captain go out and help the deckhands when they were short handed. After all, they are part owner, (I know josh is for a fact). You would think they would do whatever it takes to be successful, including whatever it takes not to lose 500k in new gear and crab.

System isint sent up like that. Drop pot . Let it soak . Pull pot . Empty pot and then stack. If they stacked them with the crab still in the pot. A) crab will die out of water and B) where the hydraulics and boom arm are they would have to drop all the pots crab still in them and then re pull up next to it so that way the pot is in the right spot for the equipment.

So where do you suggest that we put the lines and bags for 100 pots? You might get away with 10 - 15 lying flat on deck with the lines and bags on top but you are creating a bigger problem when you want to empty and then stack the pots. Do it right, do it safely and keep the boat tight on the gear and you can run 15 - 20 pots per hour. Waiting to stack a pot before having the next one in the block is a waste of time. Worked many a day with a pot being stacked, one in the rack, one hanging in the block and the next pot on the bow, oh yeah, we hand coiled back then and had a 4 man crew if lucky.

They're not hurt. Producers wanted drama so they pretended them being hurt. All is fine, they are on the deck working. They wanted the viewers to think, "Oh my, 2 men down....what will they do! Oh, no!" This will suck the viewers into watching next weeks episode. Better ratings for Discovery which means money $$$$....
