This is my favorite Dough recipe. I have ornaments that are 40 years old that I made from this recipe. They are in beautiful shape even after all this time.

Good to know! I just made about 100 tiny stars and hearts to make a garland so I was hoping they would last for a long time :) I made some with my dog's pawprints too so of course I want to cherish those for years to come

Honestly, this is more complex than mine (also holding fine after about 20 years). 1 cup of flour for one cup of salt.. use about 1/2 cup of water (depending on weather, humidity level, etc… dough must be like pasta dough in the end). No need to warm anything, no need to wait… it just will air dry in a few days. Paint, add ordinary transparent matt or glossy varnish, and you’re done. 😊

I thank you for sharing your recipe and talent. I can not wait to go see my grandchildren and do these. I have a large bag of cookie cutters that were my mommy's, we used them for cookies when I was little, now we can use to make our ornaments. Yours are really beautiful. I always take notes while I watch interesting videos, so for those of you that don't, 1/2 cup corn starch, 1 cup baking soda, 3/4 cup water, preheat oven to 250 degrees then bake for 20-30 min or until hard😁

Cook on the stove top until it becomes the consistency of sticky mashed potatoes. Form to a ball and allow to cool on countertop using a little cornstarch to dust the suface. Cover with a slightly damp cloth to cool. Dust with a little cornstarch and roll out to 1/4 inch thickness and use cookie cutters to cut out your ornaments. Use a straw to put a hole in top of each of you’re hanging them. Place on cookie sheet and bake in a 250° oven until hard…abt 20 to 30 minutes or until hard. Can be painted with acrylic paints

So pretty... I made these for years with Elementary students in a Before & After School Program. They also look great Embossed with prints. Emboss the print before baking. After baking, thin your paints a little and do a wash, quickly wipe off with a soft cloth. This technique makes them look very vintage and antique. I have also used rubber stamps with permanent ink.

I can see other uses for this dough. You can make some custom magnets or even little wine glass markers or paperweights. All kinds of stuff. Little tiny mini ornaments that you could use to make a Garland too like beads or would that be too thick? Cute little shapes without holes that you can hot glue onto a wreath that you made like a leaf or something? Or even a 3D Rose. Just wonder if it works as well as a baking clay... I would appreciate anybody commenting here who's tried anything else with this recipe to chime in!

I made up a few batches of these after watching your video. Glad I stumbled on your video now. I tried a recipe from off of Pinterest and they turned out terrible. The ones I made after watching here turned out great. I painted them to look like porcelain. Did a holy motif and they looked so pretty. I had to bake mine an extra 10 mins but they still turned out good.

I would probably suggest a real fine grit sanding block just to get off any additional powder on the surface but using the fine grit along the edge you could get all the chunky bits off the cutting edge to make them look really nice and clean right? Just want to know if you've tried that method to knock off the little hanging off pieces? I don't think that you need to seal your artwork if you're using acrylic butt what type of sealant or spray would you suggest? Besides mod podge I just want to know what else works well without yellowing... Definitely could make an outdoor sealant for them if you wanted to use these outside, I think!
