CORN PLANTING 1980's Style
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Big tractor Power is out in the field with classic CASE IH tractors as they start the corn planting season. This video shows what corn plating looked like in the 1980's. Watch a 130 hp INTERNATIONAL 1086 tractor and 12 row row 30 ft KINZE 3200 corn planter seed the new crop. Working ahead of the planting team is a 210 hp STEIGER Wildcat III ST-210 tractor working on primary tillage with a Grain Planis 1300 Sub Soiler. Secondary tillage for seedbed preparation is completed by a 160 hp INTERNATIONAL 5288 with a 33ft Krause Field Cultivator and a CASE 800 with a 12ft cultimulcher.

Looks like home, I plant with a 1086 and a 12 row Kinze RF
I ran a 1486 in Ct. and also a 4586.. along with many Fords of all sizes and our Mudder which was a 4 wheel drive Case. dont remember the exact model, 5 speed hi/lo with 5' tall tires... it always ran hot as hell ..I really do miss the farm
Going back about 40 years, we had a case 800 with a wide front end and a Diesel engine with a case o matic transmission. We used that tractor for everything. Plowing, planting, haying. Great little tractor!

Very cool. The 800s were built to last.
Very nice looking older tractors. This farm definitely takes care of their equipment. Thanks for doing what you do Jason.
Those were the days, I wish I had been farming back then with my grandpa.
Nice to see the oldies blowing the cobwebs out,the little Case looked as if it could turn on a dime!. The big Stieger sure was getting a good workout pulling that subsoiler in what looked to be quite hard and dry soil.
Beautiful old school tractors, just like me.
Boy that Steiger is having some traction problems! 🙂 Nice to see the simpler machines again that are actually working under 10 MPH in the field.
@gashy1000
Жыл бұрын
Yes the Steiger is pulling fairly hard, right on the limit and totally agree with your comment about the working speed of machinery shown on here, I reckon most of them are traveling way too fast, particularly ploughing because it throws the soil to far and creates ridges in the paddock. I've said it a heap of times, a lot of the tractors could come back a gear or in some cases 2 and let the implement being pulled do it's job. cheers from Adelaide, South Australia.
It's nice to see the old tractors still workin in the dirt

This was a fun day in the field.
We’ve got a 930 case and a 1086 with a Kinze 2000 6/11…this will be our second year farming
That old equipment still getting the job done. That's cool. Love it.
Love old IH equipment. I grew up in the late 90s/early 00's, but my grandpa used 70s/80s IH equipment up until he retired from farming about 10 or so years ago.
This is a sweet video. Reminds me of a much happier time when equipment had grunt and didn't have GPS and all those whatchamacallits
Feels like home, we have a 1066, 5288, farmall 300 utility and 400 heck we even have a kinze to match. Best of luck this year to a farm that seams so similar.

You have a very cool cool lined up of Red Power.
The farm I work for uses a John Deere 8120 with window tints and an 8 row 30" spaced John Deere 1750 planter to plant corn. They use a JD 9220 to pull a 48' JD 1060 field cultivator for seed bed preparation.
Wow, this video takes me back to the 70's and 80's growing up on the farm. Our main tractors back then were a 706, 1086, and a Steiger Panther. Spent a lot of time in all 3 as a kid. thanks for the video and bringing back some memories.

What a great line up. I grew up around farms like yours in the 70’s and 80’s. Red row crops and lime green 4wds. When I saw a Panther in a farm yard I thought wow now they are farming. It was a great era.
Very enjoyable video Jason. To watch all kinds of equipment getting the crop planted is always a plus. Spring HAS sprung!!
my son sez we are the 80s farmer but it works for us happy Easter everyone
Wow! Case 800! Ours is a 1959 LP Case o matic model. After years of constant use and a few in frames and a tranny slide shaft repair, it was semi retired. We moved back out here in 02 to help out and after 2004 when Daddy retired it was used just for about 7 acres of weed shredding and light plowing, scrap moving etc. The tranny got so loud I retired it and replaced it with a L4701 Kubota. For plowing the 800 was better. For weed cutting the Kubota with HST is better. Thanks for this episode!
Great video . We used a 1026 ih to plant the moved to a1456 and for working the field we went from a 1456 on a field cultivator up to a 4368 pulling a field cultivator . Thanks for showing a planter that used the markers . I remember a few fields with the planter couldn't use the markers because of a failure in a line or something & after the corn was ready for cultivation it was hard to find the right rows for skipping a few rows for the customer wanted
The hum of these working engines is the best sound! And the smell of that diesel I always like that too! Something about old IH tractors with white wheels I just love. I guess that's from my favorite IH the 1206.
I love the old iron there paid for and you can work on them
I enjoy these videos just as much as seeing the biggest and newest equipment at work. This farm has beautiful classic equipment.

Happy Easter. Thanks for sharing the video. Good looking machinery. Still working and costing a lot less than the new equipment. I run red tractors. They will be there when the rest are in the junkyard. My opinion of course. Especially the earlier magnums. I always enjoy your content regardless what brand of equipment it is.
