I know i was so fucking depressed with the ending. He was so close to changing a few times throughout the book, but he didn’t and it was fucking depressing

Never was a love story, she just slowed down his greed and his obsession with power but nevertheless, he was true to his nature. He wanted to use the power of the capitol to be beneficial to him.

Yes it was, per Suzanne Collins. This greed and power only developed at the end; it was pure survival through most. That’s the whole point of the story; that wasn’t his nature at all, that is what he became at the end. The story is about the terrible price of war and survival. How your society, and experiences shape you, etc. These are just copy and paste “points” that are just TikTok vomit. If you read the book without prejudice, and use just basic critical thinking these are very obvious. That extremely hard nowadays when your entire opinion comes verbatim from an idiot on social media.

Thank you for such an amazing edit. It’s really heartbreaking what happened to Lucy and Snow. They had the chance to live calmly, but Coryo couldn’t make the final decision till the end and i think it’s the main problem. He tried to help Lucy, but at the end he also brought hew ideas for the Hunger Games. He tried to save his friend’s life, to give him the reason to live, but at the end was the one to send his friend to death. Coryo agreed that trust is very important, but lied Lucy all the time and then shot her. Maybe Panem had such a big influence on his personality, that in the end Coryo just can’t choose the opposite side. Who knows.

so in both the book and the movie, there is no body of Lucy Gray- he shot at an illusion of her, or at her but only hit the earing off her ear. basically she didnt get shot by him, she should be out there somewhere for awhile

Readimg the book, I felt that he was beyond saving from the beginning; he never said what he thought, he never showed what he truely felt, he didn't trust anybody and he never loved without conditions, not even his family. While she was fighting for her life in the arena, he was trying to feed the public an image of her so he would be able to court her without losing his honour. He never wanted to be with her, he just wanted to own her as part of his collection of things that made him look good to the public. She would have been his trophy. But he never would have given up anything for her. The story tricked us into thinking they had a chance, but he was never a hero from the beginning.

the fact that katniss is basically a revange from lucy gray makes the franchise much more interesting.

@@madelynweiss5865 book had the romance...they intentionally removed the romance from the film...not sure why...snow really thought he was in love with her..and she had no idea about his offiicer school, that he had options...i went over the book with a fine tooth comb and she had no reason to doubt him or try to kill him...if she left willingly, she did it thinking they'd just go back to district 12 and carry on...i think she was most likely disappeared by capitol kgb working for gaul which makes it even more tragic if she died thinking him a good person and he was thinking the worst of her while she was being murdered....poor lucy gray!

Kind of reminds me of Anakin and Padme if Padme ran at the first sign of a red flag

Definitely. Anakin though deep down was a very good person, who was led astray by a vindictive man who promised to save who he loved. The council also kind of treated Anakin like shit very often. Anakin went down the dark path originally to keep Padme alive, while Snow always had power above Lucy. Snow was never a good guy, Anakin was

The love he felt to Lucy damaged him, She was a songbird Among Mockingjays singing Hanging tree, which in the books, he unironically despised. He was fascinated by Jabberjays in the books, but felt mockjngjays were inbreds and unnatural. But i think Katniss was a reminder of Lucy Gray to snow, as she came from 12, Displayed Rebellious attitude, singing the songs Lucy made and song herself. In the books, she also sang Deep in the meadow.

​@@kiralee9330 she realized she can't trust him after he said he killed 3 ppl instead of 2, and had a suspicion he was at fault for sejanus' execution. A doctor told him the snake wasn't poisonous so Lucy Gray was probably testing him hiding on a tree branch. Edit: I meant venomous 😭😭😭

I know he was going to go crazy/evil based on his interaction with Katniss but I was still rooting for Lucy/Snow to make it. It’s been a while since I’ve shipped a couple so hard. They had so much Chemistry. ‘Why’d you have to go crazy Snow’

My sad theory is that Lucy dies; when snow shoots and goes to the location where she fell, we can only appreciate how he picks up her earing, as something to keep from her forever. Even tho the song 'can't catch me now' is not from the author of the book, its part of the soundtrack of the film, was written propusly for it, and it would make so much sense if the end happended like that: if she is dead, he would see her face everywhere, the pain of killing her, would take over.

I still believe deep down snow is not a bad person, he ended up helping katniss so maybe he’s not as evil as everyone thinks he is. He seems conflicted between good and evil. He was in so much pain when his best friend died. If snow got a happy ending he probably would have ended up being good in the end. He reminds me of Loki from marvel. Some villains are just the way they are because of a dark past but it doesn’t make them evil. Everyone believed he was good. Scarlett witch also suffered to but I don’t think she’s evil. I’m a very emotional person so it’s easier to understand a villain’s intentions. He seemed so pure and happy while spending time with Lucy by the lake.

The movie made Snow seem good but misguided. In the books he is not a good person at all. He is possessive over Lucy gray and wants to own her. I think he did feel bad about Sejanus for a little bit but then he sucks up to the parents and acts like he did nothing wrong so they favor him once he goes back to the capital. I agree though that villains can be understood in a way. I can relate and feel for Loki and Wanda but not Snow. I guess it's cause the book is from his view and his thoughts are not great.

i wish the movie had not removed all the romance from the book and that they ruined lucy ...i love tom blythe as snow and it's not rachel zegler's fault they changed her an the story...she didn't know he had been accepted to officer school...she didn't know he had options...she probably thought they would just go back to 12 and live happily ever after...they ruined it in the movie by actually pitting them against each other instead of focusing on snow's break down...if everything was a test and gaul sent him to the districts for the summer to continue his edification, i have no doubt there were spies and they followed snow and lucy and disappeared her..i'm sure they were keeping him out of trouble and making suer he returned to the capitol...hunger games equivalent of the KGB...

snow is terrible but i cant help but feel bad for him in the movie 😭

I think Lucy and Snow meet again and continue their romance. I think she's the mother of his child. He has a granddaughter in the other movies so we know he has a child. I really want to see the story continue.

Absolutely. Another female tribute from District 12 who caught the attention of the Capitol and wooed them all with her sacrifice for her sister and then defying them to become a victor like Lucy did with those snakes? How could that not remind of his songbird from all those years ago? Plus with her and Peeta's love story, you cannot convince me that Snow didn't envision himself and Lucy and what could have been if he didn't have a greater love for power and control. And don't forget, Lucy liked calling swamp potatoes "Katniss" instead of their more understandable name so that to be an extra sting for him just upon hearing her name

They’re only alike in looks and other superficial ways. Katniss actually parallels Snow. It’s the same for Peeta; he looks like Snow, but parallels Lucy Gray.

He betrayed his friend and by doing that, by lying about this, he betrayed her first. Lucy herself said, that trust is much more important than love (it does make sense, because true love can’t be built up on lie), so she just tried to save herself. She understood that Coryo is lying to her, he was ready to do everything to keep his secret, even to kill the person for which his has feeling, Lucy just found this out before he really did something to her, but sadly, it didn’t really help.

Nobody could even find out that Sejanus helped those people to escape. Of course he was risking his and Coryo’s lives, but don’t you think that death is a too harsh punishment for this? She is dead....in last verse of Hanging Tree...She clearly said in BOTSOS .that "come to tree, hanging with rope side by side with me..." so She Clearly Loves him (snow) she takes a knife with her so she either killed herself (suicide)or got caught by peacemakers and hanged on tree or hanged herself on tree in forest ....in every cases its very sad Ghostly sadistic that she loved him so much ..and snow had to live with her ghost his whole life ... The girl was a self centered jerk. Snow made all the sacrifices to save her and to be with her, risking his career and the well-being of his loved ones. Did she care about any of that? Nope. She was an a**hole, always taking and giving nothing in return. Basically she made him the monster he became, breaking his heart.

@@Lqvedaisy Sometimes even the authors aren't correct in their assessment, striving to defend and praise and elevate a character who is actually a jerk. Perfect example is Irene Forsythe in John Galsworthy's "The Forsyth saga" - he praised and whitewashed her all he could, but the readers knew better, and their opinion on Irene formed separately from the author's biased and outright stupid evaluation. Lucy Grey did not so much as think or care about all the sacrifices the young man made for her. She was a taker by nature. And that snake bite in the end wan't really about what he did (had to do) - it was a f*ck off gesture. A way of saying "I needed you in the Capitol, but now leave me the eff alone".

@@gdesiree29 Sorry, not an argument. I don't have to read the book to form an opinion about a MOVIE character. Cinema is a different art form, and the way they showed Snow in THE MOVIE - he was the victim, who gave it all to this relationship, and she was the a**hole that spat him in the face and walked away after everything he's done for her. I will read the book though - now that I've truly enjoyed the movie, I absolutely need to read this novel.

They were so sweet, the ending was so sudden & messed up 🥹
