I saw Di Stefano circa 1962 at Carnegie Hall. As described by Corelli, his voice was round rich and beautiful. Much the same as he was on records except for the beautiful overtones in the theater. Unfortuanely, we will never see or hear anything like him again. R.I.P.

No hay palabras. Mientras la voz estuvo entera y tenía ese maravilloso brillo de seda y satén era algo extraordinario. Lástima que no le durara demasiado tiempo...tal vez por cantarlo todo o por no cuidar la voz lo que hubiese sido menester. Un tenor único.

Интернет дал мне возможность прослушать голоса Карузо, Бариони и Ди Стефано.Все трое исполняли песню "Катари..." Удивительно различные получились впечатления : -кажущаяся простота мощного пения Карузо ; -отточенное ( несколько " задавленное" в среднем регистре ) звучание стального голоса Бариони ; -широко распевное звучание бель канто Ди Стефано ( скорее не тенора, а баритона)... Если бы в Истории вокала не было ИХ и нескольких других Великих теноров , то мы могли бы и не услышать Лучано Паваротти, в котором слились воедино лучшие певческие достижения его знаменитых предшественников и современников. Вечная им всем благодарность и слава за подаренную людям радость!

I listened two more than twenty other tenors and baritones singing this tragic but beautiful song but there's only one Giuseppe Di Stefano. Each of his versions you can find on KZread beats the others hands down. Even better than Enrico Caruso which is amazing when you keep in mind that "Core 'ngrato" was written for him. Nobody sings this canzone with more heart and passion than Giuseppe Di Stefano. Was this on German tv?

He sang this song beautifully throughout his entire career. And it's nice to see this kinescope from 1963. It's unfortunate that he was lip syncing. Perhaps there wasn't an orchestra available. Who knows. Still, it would have been wonderful if he had actually sung this great canzone live.

Not only that but he is one of few tenors to sing the poignant 2nd verse: "how I suffer." It makes no sense if one sings only the first verse. Enrico Caruso and Luciano Pavarotti did as well. Bravi tutti.

In this song,di stefano was probably the best,a young di stefano had a very beautiful natural voice,a great shame he decided to throw it all away with singing roles that destroyed his voice,still we have the early stuff and for that we are very grateful

Интернет дал мне возможность прослушать голоса Карузо, Бариони и Ди Стефано.Все трое исполняли песню "Катари..." Удивительно различные получились впечатления : -кажущаяся простота мощного пения Карузо ; -отточенное ( несколько " задавленное" в среднем регистре ) звучание стального голоса Бариони ; -широко распевное звучание бель канто Ди Стефано ( скорее не тенора, а баритона)... Если бы в Истории вокала не было ИХ и нескольких других Великих теноров , то мы могли бы и не услышать Лучано Паваротти, в котором слились воедино лучшие певческие достижения его знаменитых предшественников и современников. Вечная им всем благодарность и слава за подаренную людям радость!

I listened two more than twenty other tenors and baritones singing this tragic but beautiful song but there's only one Giuseppe Di Stefano. Each of his versions you can find on KZread beats the others hands down. Even better than Enrico Caruso which is amazing when you keep in mind that "Core 'ngrato" was written for him. Nobody sings this canzone with more heart and passion than Giuseppe Di Stefano. Was this on German tv?

He sang this song beautifully throughout his entire career. And it's nice to see this kinescope from 1963. It's unfortunate that he was lip syncing. Perhaps there wasn't an orchestra available. Who knows. Still, it would have been wonderful if he had actually sung this great canzone live.

Not only that but he is one of few tenors to sing the poignant 2nd verse: "how I suffer." It makes no sense if one sings only the first verse. Enrico Caruso and Luciano Pavarotti did as well. Bravi tutti.
