Great video, awesome seeing you work with the locals. I’ve been to palawan and it was quite obvious that careless tourism causes the most damage. Those untouched by flocks of tourist were the most beautiful thing I could imagine. I just wish the governments of these countries would open up coral export in exchange for reef restoration projects. It could really boost local economy and benefit us reefers. They’re about to miss their chance as state side aquaculture takes off.

There should be some business opportunity for these farmers selling direct to hobbyist cutting down 2 middle men in the chain. Like farmers selling via reefer builders to hobbyist and paying Reef Builders some percentage. Profits should go down to these communities otherwise wild corals will be at risk. Thanks Reef Builders for all this hardwork.

There are intensive permits and legalitys to import corals, making cutting out a wholesaler nearly inpossible.

They need to ship and find ways to advertise the corals and judging by their situation, it doesn't seem like they can afford to just ship corals across the world to the big buyers in America and Europe.

All corals are protected by CITES ( Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora ). Hence this will never happen.

I have an idea if that will help the populations To keep going create statues of real live living in coral And use them to create characters from Disney’s the Little mermaid from King Triton to Ariel flounder Sebastian Don’t forget to include the predatory fish sharks rays barracudas And when there are plenty of them catch them then use their do you need to unlock the genetic secrets of their prehistoric relatives Then we can get some of them to evolve back in existence if a bird can do that by itself is plenty of chance for fish and underwater creatures as well the bottom line is I want to see prehistoric species of fish in Shedd Aquarium it’s kind like Jurassic Park underwater You get it

Give my best regards to the people of Marau- I gave the first workshop there in 1997 with ICLARM, but the ethnic tension was horrible and resulted in the collapse of everything a few years later- good to see the people thriving again.
