I am often disgusted by police actions, but watching the entire video shows that SHE was resisting arrest, had been told if she didn’t comply she would be arrested, and physically fought the officer. She deserved it.

She was wrong. Mr. Brooks shouldn't have to stand there negotiating with a seemingly entitled citizen? The fact that she's a black woman doesn't have anything to do with this. We can't control the actions of others but we can control our own. Yes, officer Brooks could have just told them to leave the park with a warning but he chose to ticket them instead. After Officer Brooks decided to arrest her for none compliance she doesn't get the option to sign anymore. This isn't a game. He's not going to just take off the handcuffs because she changed her mind to let her sign. He clearly stated that she would be arrested. This only escalated because she escalated it. She was strong too😅. Officer Brooks needed back up for help because he could barely restrain her.😅 Maybe as a US NAVY disabled veteran I have a different outlook on respecting and obeying authority.

Exactly right! She could have signed the citation and possibly even got the judge to throw it out since it was minor. They usually do. Judges can be pretty gracious, but not when you're making the cops job harder than it has to be. The cop did what he was supposed to. It was just a ticket that she turned into a charge....smh. It's their decision to make. Lesson for her: Please stop making mountains out of molehills.

That's not true! She refused to sign it and gave the cops a lot of b.s. at the beginning of the traffic stop. All she had to do was sign it Her bf signed it. She doesn't understand zoning laws. Certain towns have zoning laws where they do not allow loitering and people being in parks after certain hours. They pay taxes and have a say in what they want in their communities from what they don't want. That woman is foolish! Sign the ticket and go about your business. Cops have certain powers by Congress and legislators who write laws and police enforce it.

Its her fault, just sign the ticket and fight it in court. She was being childish and entitled and once he was like u are going to jail then she calls Jesus and is going to sign it , its too late!

I had mentioned in another response, it doesn't matter what race the cop was, thats almost immaterial at this point. It's the police culture that have been brutalizing & harassing black & brown people. This cop behaved as all asshole cops do, this couple was just being quiet in a park, & they STILL were harrassed. Also Quinten, you have to look at stops as a whole to see the discrepancies. If you take things on a case by case basis, you may not know if that person being pulled over might have already been stopped a bunch of times. That's why an honest accounting of how police officers are behaving on duty. It doesn't mean a thing if you're looking at a cop writing someone a ticket , when you don't see that 90% of the people pulled over might be black. Traffic cones at the park entrance. Sign says "Parks close at midnight" (or whatever time). "Out of town" doesn't mean "I can't tell when a park is closed." Sign the citation (it's an acknowledgment of receipt, NOT AN ADMISSION OF GUILT), go home, and pay the fine or appear in court to make your case. But Entitled Blaque Kween says, "Aw HELL no ... let's make this tough!!" Well, she got what she aksed fo.

He was immediately confrontational over a city ordinance violation which the two involved did not know anything about. They were shocked to here that they were in violation of that ordinance. Why not simply inform those two that they were in violation & ask them to leave, I simply don't get it, the cop was on a power trip. She challenged him & he went off on one.

I watched the entire video. What kind of person has such a bad attitude being asked to sign a citation? I've gotten traffic tickets I thought were unfair, I signed and paid and contested one. It wouldn't cross my mind to do what she did. Watch the other officers body cam. He made every effort not to hurt her even when she was wailing and hiding her hands and told her to put her hands behind her back a dozen times. He did not engage in back and forth! She made it far more difficult than it needed to be. I hope her lawsuit gets dismissed.

She asked to be arrested. Officer Brooks was very patient with her.

I remember making out one night in the park with my girlfriend (later she became my wife). A cop came up and knocked on the window (scaring the shit out of us). He said, "The park closes at eleven." We said okay, then he watched us drive off. He didn't ask for our IDs. He didn't ticket us. He just told us to leave. I bet had he just told them that the park was closed, and that they had to leave, none of this would've happened.

The park's rules (open hours) were posted, every state in the country has similar laws and ignorance of the law is no defense, it will not hold up in court.

WHY didn't he just let them go with a WARNING ⁉️ he said himself , that they were from out of town . So why not just let them go ? Why even give them a ticket for that ? The ticket is only to acknowledge that she been informed of the rule of the park even tho they out of town and didn't know, by signing the ticket is to let it be in file that you been warned. So if you get caught again then you go to court. . He didn't throw her to the ground she set down to avoid the hand cuffs and pray to the white Jesus. We got to watch to whole video.

This is crazy!!!! For a freaking citation/ ticket???? This is not a misdemeanor!!!!! No warning??? Out of town????

For most parking tickets, the offender is not present. (I figgered THAT out, and I ain't even a lawyer!) Sign the ticket, go home, and appear in court to make your case. Or DON'T sign the ticket, and spend the night in the slam. Her boyfriend got it, why didn't she? Because she's an entitled bLaCk QuEEn, that's why.

I'm a retired law enforcement officer and me, personally, after I had explained why they couldn't be there and if there were no outstanding warrants or criminal behavior, I would've let them leave and gone back to patrolling for some REAL criminals.

That's what the real focus of this encounter should be. He had discretion to issue a warning. However, once he made the decision to write them tickets, the rest is pretty much by the books according to Georgia state code. Everyone should watch the full body camera video posted on KZread because Richey left out the most revealing parts for some reason.

Exactly but once she returned from her vehicle which was extremely dangerous with a attitude saying she don't have to sign the ticket plus the. Police Officer was following the orders given to him by strictly enforcing the after dark Law of being in the Park he never became upset in his tone or demeanor.

I agree. The officer knew it was a waste of time to arrest her once she offered to sign. He would drive her to police station, she would sign it there and be released. There was no point at all to arrest her once she offered to sign and the officer knew this, he just did it anyways because he was annoyed.

She doesn't have to sign the ticket she would just get the ticket anyway.

No… She was wrong. Stop twisting words. The officer showed respect from the start. She clearly challenged him. Let’s point out what needs to be pointed out the man was smart enough and wise enough to know he can fight this in court another day. She was given the same instructions. But she felt she was entitled. Let’s also point out the guy she was with did not advised her to sign, he knew the type woman she can be with her attitude and she doesn’t allow anybody to tell her what to do. Now look at her Booked and Processed.

If I could dislike this video a million times I would.

THIS is precisely why people hate cops, even before roughing her up the fact he knew they where from out of town and decided to write a ticket anyway. He could have simply informed them and let them be on their way.

This ticket should be immediately dismissed including the resistance. The officers didn't establish if they Saw the signage. You must prove intent so this doesn't pass the Subject Matter test at all.

Police serve and protect who? this cop is a bully!

He would not have to throw her down on a "filthy ground" if she would have complied and just let him put the cuffs on her, she made that choice by resisting. Get out of your feelings and look at the facts!

Ordinances are not laws, just like policies are not laws. How can you cite someone for being in a public area, that wasn't fenced off or a barrier was placed their to prevent the public from using it. Their is no law, so that citation was fabricated, and you do not need id for minor citations.

@@kinginc2000 She wasn't arrested for the ordinance. She was arrested because GA state law says that if you refuse to sign the ticket which indicates your intent to appear in court, you may be arrested to post a bond instead. She was given the choice 3 times in the full video (which Dr. Richey edited out for some reason) and refused each time then resisted being cuffed resulting in more force being used to effect the arrest. Also, this area wasn't fenced off because it's a large public park with posted hours. Yes, he could have decided to give them a warning but it's just like getting caught speeding. The cop can let you off with a warning or give you a ticket. If you get a ticket and refuse to sign it, in GA they can arrest you.

I really wish you would show the whole bodycam. She was told not signing meant being physically taken to jail. She decided not to sign, he placed her under arrest, she resisted. She was playing games. She lied about the officer saying he wouldn't give his name and badge number. Her friend lied and told the Sergeant that she wasn't resisting. I totally disagree with you.

Where that black cop haven't done that to a Caucasian person I don't think so

lol... She deserved exactly what she got. This is the problem... With the exception of Catille, every single one of the incidents you like to protest start like this... Every single one... and then you get salty when shit escalates and gets rough. Here's a thought, take your ticket, don't resist arrest etc. Ya'll need to go re-watch Chris Rock's video on how to not get your ass beat by the police.
