Cop Killer: By April of 1995 in Washington, D.C., two officers had been shot and one had been murdered. Each had been sitting in their patrol cars when a man sneaked up and opened fire. The FBI was brought in to help catch the cop killer. Agents identified the man who was most likely the killer, but he was nowhere to be found. Months of surveillance operations around the country finally yielded a break; they found their suspect in Baltimore, MD. A task force assembled to make the arrest. Unfortunately, the killer was one step ahead. He found an unsuspecting agent and gunned him down as he sat in his vehicle waiting to make an arrest. A violent gun battle began. The assassin’s reign was ended with an FBI bullet.
.22 Caliber Killer: Racial tensions in Buffalo in 1980 were at an all-time high. Six black males had been brutally murdered--two had their hearts cut out. The only thing connecting the victims was their ethnicity and the fact that each had been shot with .22 caliber bullets. Residents screamed for the police to stop this serial killer. With no suspects, local investigators turned to the FBI. Profilers were able to produce a psychological composite of the type of person the killer would most likely be. Their analysis paid off. Using the profile, agents determined a seemingly unrelated event in Georgia was also the work of the .22 caliber killer. The profile matched the suspect on every point. It was enough to put the killer away for life.
The FBI Files is an American docudrama that takes a look behind the scenes of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's crime laboratory.
Real FBI cases are recounted through reenactments and interviews, due to the sensitive nature of the show, viewer discretion is advised.

You have a man known for ambushing and killing police officers…. Why would you not have more of a presence to cover your officer / detective doing surveillance?? After he switched the meeting areas with his GF so many times… I feel like you’d have to know he was trying to draw the officers out..

One thing I’ve noticed in watching these videos is how many times violent criminals have been identified and ultimately brought to justice when they were arrested for petty crimes. We can only wonder how many criminals have not been apprehended & how many lives have been forever changed in the current environment whereby lesser crimes particularly in large metropolitan areas are not enforced.

😂So glad that we can teach antique techniques 30 years after they first got aired. Just kidding...they are still good fun to watch. 😊 But truth tbt a lot has changed these days.. I don't mean in technology or forensics... But how we approach and look at a scene and the onlookers and witnesses etc.

I think that the FBI-agent's death at the gas station was preventable, sadly. He could have not sat in a car, suspiciously, for once. The FBI could have gone full blast and gotten several agents out to some tactical points from which they could arrive at any meet up spot in a few minutes after a new meeting point was arranged, in this case to man the gas station. They even could have used a dummy for the girl friend so that he would have had a focal point without endangering someone. YES, I KNOW - hindsight is 20/20. But this killer was no Einstein. He got lucky that the law enforcement personell wasn't either.
