registration plates are public; they are SO PUBLIC it's actually a crime to try to make them not public, like obstructing them from view

3:15 I know I go on about cops having a single brain cell and not using the two things either side of the brain cell. But this one takes stupidity to the next level. This one doesn't use the two things in front of his single brain cell. This one must be the blind deaf and dumb constable. The piece of perspex is in open view right in front of him and he says that Reggie has been noting number plates when there is nothing of the sort on the perspex. And even if Reggie had written a number plate he must have rubbed it off. In which case the number hasn't been noted. We'll ignore the fact that Reggie has recorded the number plates on his spy glasses because the cop hasn't noticed that.

But you can take reggies, Reggie! As part of your studies on “Statistical quantum mechanical number distributions”, you have to note numbers!

Many years ago when I was a Merseyside police officer I was off duty shopping in Ellesmere Port. I saw two men stealing a package from a delivery vehicle delivering to Laidlers the Chemist's in the town centre. I followed them to the bus station and arrested them on a bus. I always carry cuffs so I cuffed them to each other through the handrail on the top of the seat. I politely instructed the driver to stop at the adjacent police station and wait. I nipped in quickly got the desk sergeant to come out to the bus and help me bring my prisoners in. As we were walking through to the cells two constables came running out of the canteen. They told the sergeant they'd got a call about a theft by two men from a delivery vehicle. By any chance at Laidler's asked the sergeant. Yes they replied looking puzzled. Don't bother he said this Merseyside officer has already arrested them it's this pair. I've never seen such an embarrassed pair of bobbies in my life.
