In essence, I felt like Cooper saw in Lucy something he hadn’t seen in a very very long time. Someone with integrity. And that brought back some of his own. Lucy’s Dad betrayed her, just as Cooper’s wife betrayed him. And they couldn’t abide with what either did. Both also had someone they loved stolen from them.

The ghoul showed her the world was cold and that she needed to prepare her self for the harsh reality

Coops wearing his cowboy outfit from the movie set. You could notice it most when he either a. Slomo shooting filly or b. at the end once he shoots blue velvet.

One important moment in the show is that when Cooper the Ghoul was accused by the Govermint of shooting up the Supermart Organ Gang's hideout, Cooper accepts responsibility for it outright (no defense) rather than rightly saying it was Lucy that got the harvesters killed. This could be seen as character development. I mean, that feel-good act got kinda glossed over when in the next scene he kills a man's son in front of him after provoking the kid. Smart thing to do? Was the kid going to try shooting him in the back? Meh, it's the Wasteland.

Great points on his cowboy persona and accent being a defense mechanism and not his pre-war original kind self. Lucy is cracking his shell a bit but later still killing Estrada’s sons kind of tells us he’s still playing the man on fire role. If you look back on how he treated Lucy in the beginning vs. what we know about many pre-war Vault Tech folks being genocidal “killers with kindness” it actually makes sense. He even says “There you are you little killer.” I think he’s set up great for a tragic hero’s death where Estrada or his daughter track him down and basically reverse the “two out three” scene Cooper Howard was famous for, only this time the Ghoul is shot in the head by Estrada.

In regards to The Ghouls cowboy persona, during the analysis, we have to remember this man had been a cowboy way longer than he was a normal person. We are talking of 50 years of being yourself then 200 of being another person. This cowboy persona is who he has become while surviving the wasteland. I do not think this persona is a front he put up I think it is who he is now. Had issues trying to explain my point so hopefully this was a slightly good enough explanation of my point.

He teaches her “survival first”. The water, checking the hospital, trading her for the medicine, … Lucy even teaches Max the same lesson when he gets shot in the arm. She follows the Ghoul’s footsteps and checks out a medical facility for help before going back to the main quest of finding the head. Also, Cooper is now a little bit like Lucy too as far as I can tell. Pretty sure he sewed her finger onto his hand as well.

We need a lucy, ghoul and dogmeat tag team to vegas

I do not know the game,. I dont know the lore. Probably doesnt matter for the show because , it doesn't seem to be based on the game directly. HOWEVER... I think Norm is gonna re-appear next season and be a hero. We never saw him step into a cryo chamber. Just a thought. Oh, i begged my sister and found an old xbox and found New Vegas for 5 bucks. My first game because of this show... at 60. :) I think the show was that good.

Thank you for calling him Cooper and not "ghoul" , I'm REALLY tired of stupide people calling him "The Ghoul". He still has more humanity than the rest of us! It really goes to show you how hypercritical modern people are when they call him the Ghoul just because he has really dry skin. LOL
