Yes basketball has advanced. But you’re looking at teams that have recruiting capabilities. Most public high schools would get obliterated by Montverde.

One thing I’ve noticed about Flagg on MVE is that he can be passive at times. Not sure if that’s why he didn’t start, coach sending a message, but he was definitely passive in the first half. If you’ve ever seen Flagg play with his Maine United team in the EYBL, he dominates because he’s not only the best all around player on the team, but also the best at individual skills such as outside shooting and inside scoring. He routinely scores 30+ for Maine because he has to for the team to have a chance of winning. On MVE, he’s the best all around player, but not the best at individual skills. No. 30 is definitely the best outside shooter and the big fella, 25, is the best low post scorer. Flagg tends to defer to 30 and 25 on the offensive end, which can lead to overall passivity at times. MVE and Flagg in particular came out with much more intensity in the 2nd half as they probably received a severe tongue lashing at halftime. Flagg is a special talent and just needs to figure out how best to use his all around skills when on a team with such top individual talent.

Agreed. He doesn’t need to do much for MVE to win, but that causes him to be passive at times since he defers to other guys on the team with superior individual skills. That doesn’t deter from his overall ability, which is superior to his teammates. I liked the way he played in 2nd half, he was very intense on the defensive end which led to more intensity on offense. I felt that intensity was missing in the 1st. The roles of 30 and 25 are quite simple, 30 hangs beyond 3-point line and 25 stays in the low post. Flagg’s role is less well-defined, IMO, making it trickier for him to stand out on this team.

I'd rather watch a high school game than an NBA one. First, there is no money bet on them. Second, their minutes are not limited. Third, they at least try to play defense on each other. Fourth, the pace of the game is much faster.
