Coolest Road in America? - The 7 Mile Bridge in the Florida Keys

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video we drive The Seven Mile Bridge in the Florida Keys and show you exactly what it feels like to cross this epic bridge. If you drive to Key West in the Florida Keys you will cross this 7 Mile Bridge over Moser Channel and the Straits of Florida that connects Marathon Key and Bahia Honda Key. In this video we show you the views during different times of day. It is a different experience every time you cross this bridge. The Overseas Highway and US Route 1 are epic roads with unbelievable views. I also take you into Key West and show you the highlights and some wild creatures lurking in the Florida Keys. The drive to Key West is truly the most scenic drive in America and possibly the most scenic drive in the world.

Nice video! I worked on this bridge as my first job after graduating high school in 1980. I wasn't part of the assembly/construction but worked where they cast the piers and highway segments. The bridge was built by Santa Fe Construction Co. out of California. The piers/segments were cast in Tampa and barged to south florida. The bridge is hollow on the inside where support cables and telephone cables run. One of my jobs was to set the deviation blocks in each segment for the bridge support cables to run through. It's cool to have played a small part in the construction of this historic bridge.

i lived in key west for over 12 years. i use to drive this bridge at least once a week. driving it during sunrise is absolutely magical. though, it can be easy to get distracted, with everything there is to look at, so you always have to be very aware of other drivers. jeez :\ i miss key west so much :(

I driven across this bridge when i was in my early twenties and didn’t know the geographic layouts of the bridge kinda of a weird feeling, after spending 5 days there in key west I didn’t know there was a tropical storm,so me being a in my early twenties thought that it wasn’t going to get that bad yet because the outer walls was about twenty miles away I decided to head out.going across that bridge in a storm will get your adrenaline flowing for sure.

And don’t forget the famous Australian Pine tree growing on the old bridge. Its name is Fred and is quite famous.

Bro I can swim like a fish but I have a fear of bridges, in Maryland we have the Chesapeake "Bay Bridge" which is 2.2 miles and I hate it but then there is the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel in Virginia Beach the southern most point on the main land that crosses the mouth of the Bay which in reality is The Atlantic ocean, my wife went the wrong way and we mistakenly went over it its 17 miles, tunnel is five the bridge covers 12 miles over the water its nothing like The Bay Bridge in Maryland I never ever had driven over that much water I was crouching down in my seat seems like forever, traveling north to the right is the ocean the left is the Bay eithervway you looked it was so scary to me bro. I can swin I never had a bad experience with a bridge to have such a phobia..I told my wife they gonna have to knock me out like they used to do MrT to get me to drive over that again…
