You don’t have to justify your process; rather than mass making you have been ‘enthusiasm making’ and your excitement and talent shine through! These little pieces are quite lovely and unique!

I don't have any washi stickers but managed to make this brilliant idea work with paper napkins! It's more tricky but provided you only lightly stamp the top paper napkin layer (so the ink doesn't spread) it works and looks beautifully translucent. I thought this might help anyone else without stickers too.

I love how these look. As far as Mass Making each person can and should do whatever makes them happy. Same thing with colors, supplies, tools and what we choose to make. If we all liked the same things and made things the same way it would get boring. That is what I have come to love and embrace in Junk Journaling you do you. There is no right or wrong way. I can get inspiration from so many by watching and taking away what works for me. Thanks so very much for sharing your creativity and talent with all of us. You are very dedicated and I appreciate this very much.

I thoroughly agree! I even gleen ideas from creators that make things totally outside of my favorite style or "niche". I get a lot of inspiration & ideas sparked from painter-artists. And I am NOT a painter... I can't paint for beans!😁

I appalude you for your creativiey and teaching abilities. I am so grateful that you share with us. As I see it, artist create to their own tune and when they share, we can all dance! Thank you so much for all you do for all of us. Blessings to you and yours.

Luise sweetheart😉☺️it is still mass making when you make many of the same process. Mass making to me is making something similar but different and making many of them. It is ok to make many of the same if you’re doing more than one of a project. I don’t like making mass projects because they may sit in my box for a long time before I use them. I like making things as I go. But hey you do you. I do love you no matter what you do. Enjoyed the video. And by the way take two pieces of scotch tape put one on both sides of the sticker and pull the backing off. Walla. 🤗 I do love the ones with color they look so good. Hugs

These are so clever. I love them I love that they are mostly hand crafted and unique. Like you I want my journal embellishments and pages to reflect my style as an artist. To me this is making en mass , making many things that are similiar at the same sitting. I dont think mass making has to be mechanistic like a machine. I like the variation and like that you work on each piece individually. The word you were looking for is alignment. You want the stamp on the circle and the sticker to be aligned. If they do not match up then they are out of alignment. Much love from me in Aotearoa New Zealand ❤

These are wonderful little treasures. I don't really like mass making either, I think some might do it as a way to create more because they are making more things to add these to, like making multiple journals so they need extra ephemera and such. I don't do that, so making more things, just means more clutter. Not a fan of clutter. Also, for getting the backs off of those silly stickers, try using a pointy tool or a straight pin to pull the back off of the sticker. Hope that helps. Thanks for sharing all that you do, you are a very good teacher.

I think this is an great idea and you seem to be very excited about it, which is great. I think if you started with complete blanks without the holes prepunched you wouldn't have to worry about the hole position until you were ready to punch and add the finishing touches!!!!!! I personally think they would look better with inked edges, but that's just me!!!! Having a few on hand doesn't necessarily mean you are mass makiing!!!!! 🙂

Ooooooh great concept building on your previous video, the possibilities, wow....... just a few thoughts - were you to create a sheet of your stamped tags and then stamp on your stickers multiple times, you would be able to use every portion of your sticker, all with varied edges and imagery, cut the circular portion, apply to your disk and then punch or die cut your circles!!!!!! Also are you familiar with wet strength tissue? Learned of it from Froyle and that would allow you to create your own "washi" stickers then using a glue stick to apply. And another random fun enhancement I learned from Toni is that after you have set your eyelet, hit it with a texture hammer for an incredible distressed look!!!!!!! How each and everyone of you inspire and add soooo much light to our art and lives!!!!!!! Have a most terrific day and thank you as always........ 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🌼🦋

I saw your first video where you said that you don't care for mass making. I instantly identified with that! I fell into the trap of doing that and found the joy of creating a journal was gone. I just quickly made something that I didn't pour my artistic creativity into. Now if I watch a creator who mass makes things I only make one or a few that will be lovingly placed into a journal. I have wondered if some people don't consider junk journaling as art? Like just gluing and pasting and mass making everything for an entire journal in an afternoon. Those can be lovely but I don't feel like they have an artists touch like the journals you make. I appreciate your process and that not all of your videos are aimed towards beginners. Thanks for challenging those of us who have been creating for many years. It is nice to have fresh inspiration after so many years.

I enjoyed watching you play around with these.. I had seen the first time you discovered it and was happy to see you re-visit the 'technique'. As far as my opinion goes... I think it's a bit of both... if one of your viewers has an idea to work with or in combination with an idea you have/had, then I'd like to see it, because it may help all of us, you and the viewers, discover something new. But yes, in the end, I think you have to like the idea or technique too, otherwise you would not do/use it again, and I also think if you don't like it, your heart/soul wouldn't be in it so you might not 'give it your all' as the saying goes. Sometimes we see a technique that is not a favorite, but I try it and change it a bit and put my own 'touch' to it and end up with something we truly treasure.

I have to agree with you Luise! I have tried to "mass make" and I get either bored or frustrated! I started out making cards a long time ago and don't do that any more and I couldn't stand making given 2 with same stamp or paper. I like the details and imagination finishing 1 completely! Then I have to put everything away and start the next one. I think I could do this like you said, the combo of colors, I probably wouldn't do 10, the most I can do of something is 3!!!!! It takes me hours just to make 3 tags, cuz I have to complete 1 at a time! I am weird!!!! Like you, people that can mass make things have a lot of patience. I have watched some ladies make maybe 12 "bases" of a type of say envelope and the decorate just 1. I can't do that either!!!! I get too overwhelmed!!

When I “mass make”. I will make items decorated for ongoing and upcoming projects. Most of my items are made, but I do not decorate otherwise until I am actually working on a project. But I make my bases and experiment with new techniques when I “mass make”. I also try to do at least one per season because for instance during fall and Christmas, I like to have some premade things because I easily get bored making gift tags for instance for everyone’s gift. This next year I will be making advent calendars for each of my families households. So, that is 14 households. So, I have already designed on paper each of those advent calendars to look different, so each month I sit down and mass make the components of same techniques, but decorate them each differently and individually. I have it all planned so that all the advent calendars are finished and in the mail to the various family households so they receive them by thanksgiving g day. As a thanksgiving gift of sorts as we all decorate for Christmas on the day after Thanksgiving. If I did not do a “mass make” of the Christmas items each year, including my gift tags and cards then none of it would ever get done. But none of those things ever turn out as “creative” as my other items. But I do mass make I undecorated bases to have on hand.

I think we get what you mean, as others said you don't have to justify anything. "Mass make" can imply a mass-production mindset, meaning just plow through an assembly line that is predetermined and doesn't need thought about each particular item. I get that you are saying you don't like the idea of doing that for yourself, you want to pay attention to each item and make changes etc. I think most creatives are that way, even when trying to build up the stash by making multiples and trying to make it more efficient by doing it in steps, they are paying attention to making each one right. This doesn't apply to the "grab and stick without overthinking it" type of projects, the benefit of which is exactly that - not overthinking it - and those are good for when you are paralyzed by perfectionism which does happen to a lot of creative personalities too. But mostly whether it is called building your stash, or mass making, it is just fun to make things that don't have to be part of a larger project, that you can get done and enjoy on their own, and then have them on hand when you are later making a journal. I love your page tabs and these little embellishments, and how happy you are about finding something new.

I get what you’re saying about mass making because I feel like it isn’t as fun and it ruins my creative process. I think it’s because mass making and repetitive tasks are left brained (logical) activities instead of right brained (creative) activities. Too many logical activities inhibit my mojo.

  • @heidiandres1701
    @heidiandres17012 ай бұрын

I may have a different understanding of mass making. I might spend time cutting or inking or making lots of bits a pieces, but they aren’t the same. Maybe I don’t know what it is. I do hear about mass producing cards, for example. I never think that applies to me because I don’t make items to sell. I don’t even make the same Christmas card for the (admittedly few) people I send them to. They’re all different designs. I don’t mind spending a lot of time working on pieces though, without knowing whether they’ll be part of a specific project.

But to mass make cut tags and and decorate to a point then finish for the particular journal is fine with me.😊 to tell you the truthe im gettingva little sick of the tim Holts stamps. Everone uses the field notes and im a little bored with them. No offense timmy

I have the same opinion as you when it comes to “mass making”. That’s why everyone’s stuff all looks the same. BORING
