Cool Things That Can Be Done With a NanoVNA

Комедия

For radio amateurs - some cool things that can be done with a NanoVNA demonstrated like
1) Measuring the SWR of an antenna
2) Using it to tune a doublet antenna
3) Measuring the performance of a low pass filter
4) Computing the efficiency of an end fed half wave transformer

The NanoVNA is a very cool gadget and capable of far more than most people will ever use it for. Beware that some HF antennas can accumulate significant static charge when not connected and can damage the NanoVNA the moment you connect them. I have had mine a few years, being elderly I prefer to drive it from a PC but it is a tremendous device for many purposes.

VERY nice!! I just watched a video warning about static voltages that can build up on an antenna and blow the NanoVNA inputs.

Great work, above my head though. Your not far from me so let me know if I can help in any way. Also would be up for a SOTA or POTA hike.

Can you cut halve wave coax with this Nano VNA like the MFJ?

Absolutely. P.S. The NanoVNA is one of the most powerful and low cost tools ever developed in my opinion for use by hams and electronics enthusiast.

Hello! It's my question that how we can test an antenna for a bipolar monopulse uwb signal for example if that signal has a 5ns width and 100khz repetition..What is the frequency that I have to use as start and stop on nanovna to measure my antenna parameters?????

Hello. I'm looking to use either a LiteVNA or NanoVNA for signal strength from a 4G tower when installing an antenna to choose the best possible location on roof. Would LiteVNA or NanoVNA be useful for this?

NanoVNA i don't think is designed for this. What you need is a Field Strength Meter of some sort.

TinySA would be more appropriate The NanoVNA’s RX is quite lumpy, but it corrects that by varying the TX

Let's say that I want a good low swr at 7.138Mhz. The Nano indicates an swr too high. Should I lengthen or shorten the antenna? Thank you!

It depends on where the dip is relative to 7.138 MHz. If the dip is to the left (lower frequency) shorten the antenna. If the dip is to the right (higher frequency) then lengthen the antenna. The dip is defined as the point of lowest SWR.

How did anyone manage without one of these before? SWR meter and a GDO. Although I never had a GDO so it was guesswork and luck. Latest was to test my h/b 2 m 4 element collinear. I've used mine quite a few times Very useful and excellent for the price. G4GHB

Maybe a simple question but I'm new to this, I want to use the nano vna to tune resonance of an air core transformer, purchased the saa2 version 2.2 and just started playing. Would I use logmag on port 11 to find the min vswr or same on port 12? Or is there a better way? Thanks for a good video

Are you using the transformer as an impedance transformer. You can measure the resonance dips which is dependent on the turns ratio. You only need the S11 port since you are measuring reflection parameters. I use it to tailor the transformer impedance ratio to an end fed wire antenna to try to get the best balance of the dips in the ham bands.

There's a video of a guy using a NanoVNA to inject a signal into an AM only CB to be able to listen to Single Sideband.

Why do you R-Tubers always show it indoors? Now you are also showing effect of coax on the reDINGS. We want to check the antenna, not the whole system. this would allow us to see how hard itis to see the screen when oudoors.
