There are probably a ton of problems with this design, but when you think about it, most people don’t need a power hammer to run 8 hrs a day pounding 3” X 3” (75mm) steel cube into a 2” X 10” (50mm X 250mm) knife blade. The compact size makes this usable in any small shop. It definitely needs to be more robust, and raised up in a proper platform for better body mechanics and so it doesn’t walk around the shop floor. But those are simple problems to solve. The space saving design is a solution that would be far harder to resolve had this fine builder not found the solution. Excellent build.

@@craveilmugoh.2387 greetings. I am not an engineer, therefore I could not say for sure. But I imagine this might work: First, measure the speed of the hammer you have built. Then using the weight of that hammer and the length of the hammer arm calculate the impact force of the hammer you have. Using the same math increase the weight of the hammer until you get the number you want. Probably if you increase the length of the hammer arm you will increase the power even faster than increasing the hammer weight. Power is affected by speed squared, but the mass only adds a simple multiplication. But you have to remember if you increase the power delivered you will need a more robust frame. And increasing the hammer arm will require a different frame as well.

I guess you need max 1.5-2 hp (1.1-1.47kw), the power is mainly depend on the weight of hummer and the tension of spring ...
