I'm 74. I lost my son 46 years. I talk to him everyday and think about him all through the day, everyday. As interesting as the content of this video is, my favorite part has nothing to do with the trucks. It's the interaction between father and son. The pride and the love the two of you have for each other is unmistakable. Y'all are very lucky.
My dad drove Freightliner Cabovers hauling beer from La Crosse, Wi to Chicago everyday in the 70's and 80's. I bet Bill remembers all The Old Style trucks running I-90 back then!
SHOUT OUT TO THE WRECKER DRIV'AH 👍🏻👋🏻👏🏻👍🏻👋🏻👏🏻👏🏻👋🏻👍🏻👏🏻👋🏻👍🏻
The free tow story alone deserves a giant thumb up! Love how real truckers behave like a family when the situation presents as occasion Awesome iron btw, the Liner paintjob is sooo slick and the big eagle is a pearl, so rare and cool.
What a story..... like you said Bill "when MEN Drove trucks" and CUDOS to the wrecker driver....
Two or more cabovers close to each other is a very rare site in the USA nowadays. I remember those things were everywhere back in the 1980s & down. Nowadays the only cabovers you see often are fire trucks, garbage trucks, yard spotters, crane trucks, concrete pumper trucks, front discharge cement trucks, & smaller size non semi trucks.
DANG...I drove a new Freightshaker cabover just like that one but with a CAT 3406B [425 HP], 13 speed back in the day - put over 700,000 miles on it without a scratch before overhaul. Lots of good memories, especially being able to hang out in the Monfort lane shaking the trees while others raked the leaves. And Bill is right about drivers back then - we always looked out for each other. Glad you're taking good care of that 'gem' Bill...tis a gleam machine! And Fred's cabover...I remember Schneider trucking had a ton of those 'pumpkin patch' International cabovers - I passed a lot of them...gave them a wide berth too! Fred...you got a 'gem' too! Thanks for the great video - keep them rolling!

Prime example of "Less is more"!!! There's something magical in the american cabovers, especially with the right paint job.
Awesome video. Guys.. Fred is a lucky boy. I'm so glad he's got that Old School mentality. Great job guys.
I really like bill and his attitude. He's the kind of people you want to work for and go out of your way to work for because they treat you right. 40 years in this business and it's hard to find good bosses. Nothing but much respect for Bill. 🇺🇸🏁🇺🇸

I like that eagle! Great story too
I've been sitting here smiling like a fool and watching SEMI Casual's video for over an hour. lol
Came for the interview. So glad i stayed for 25:15! Good looking unit!
Mr. Rethwisch, you should bring one of those cabovers to the St. Ignace Michigan truck show Sept 19th. It’s the 25th anniversary and it’s going to be a lot of fun! Nice video. 👍
I grew up in a truck. Times were a lot different once upon a time. ELDs have made it almost impossible to stop and help someone but then again most people don't care. Our trucks might be nicer but we lost something in ourselves along the way. I hope that we find it again. Trucking was an us thing, today we just a me mentality..
I still have my first semi truck. A 1970 Kenworth W900A that I drive every day. Not the prettiest and has no power steering and and A/C with a crawl through 36 inch bunk. Had it 43 years now

i started out in an old international cabover back in 1997
I have watched this video several times. Those Old School Cabovers never gets Old. I drove from the early 80's to the late 90's And yes your right. It was a different world back then. But with kids like Fred and Luke And all the kid's ( boys and girls) that are Involved in the trucking business I think it will be ok. Thanks for the video . Fred that is an awesome International. The pride you made that Tow truck driver fill. He's probably still telling the story about the time he towed an old Cab over that a 7 yr old owned. I know I would be. Y'all are such an inspiration..
Bill is a really nice guy. Glad he's a regular on the channel.
ITS BEAUTIFUL
Great job Dad and Fred!
Love this guy and his story
Standing TALL !
This is great! Stunning trucks and awesome people. Uk American truck fan.
Really cool video.
Wow super cool cabover! From a old school driver learned from the best my dad in a cabover GMC Astro then a 1974 K100 then a 1978 K100 that I would drive myself! Got the first new truck in 1984 W900b. I still work for our local Hwy dept I have my tank and hazmat endorsment. Thanks Bill and Tommy.

I like the fact that it hasn't been overdone.
My first 2 vehicles were pickup trucks. A '73 Ford F250 camper special, and a '79 GMC 1 Ton 4X4. Both were stolen and blown up in Roseburg, Oregon where I am from. I wish I still had them.
This video shows some great down to earth folks. Have seen Bill's beautiful equipment running around Wisconsin. Thank you for sharing much respect!
Fred is just that one guy you meet that is just the man. Like an old schooler in a boys body. For sure gonna be a trucker, but that was obvious. Imagine him telling the story of how his first truck was an International cabover.
Cool video from Wisconsin, my home state. Love the Freight Shaker cabover. Always awesome to spot these vintage trucks from time to time still hitting the pavement and shifting gears. Thanks for posting this content.
That cab over is so nice 👌
Awesome Video really glad you went to His place, loved the Cabover what a Awesome Truck. Are you in the future going to show the rest of His Truck's?
I totally agree with the thought of surrounding yourself with good people and good equipment! I had to surrender my CDL due to health issues, which broke my not only because I love trucking, but also cause the small fleet I drove for treated me great. I was Not a fan of what trucks they ran, but they really stayed on top of maintenance. And it was nothing for one of the owners to but 100 dollars in my hand every so often to cover scales or to get the truck washed. He even let me put extra marker lights on it!👍🏽
This Rethwisch guy has so awesome trucks including those two cab overs
Great video! Love the trucks and the stories.
That's a sweet frieght shaker love them cabover frieght liners
He has good taste in trucks, great video, thanks for sharing.
I see their trucks all around Western Wisconsin, nicest rigs on the road !
Keep up the great work
Beautiful fleet, I love the paint on all of them
I drove a lot of Freightshaker, and Cornbnder cabovers back n the day for the company I drove for. Very cool! Todd the retired trucker.
GIVE MY LIFE FOR THAT RIG DRIV'AH
Great video
That is one sharpe cabover love the old trucks
Bill looks like he’s happy as all get out behind the wheel of that joker!
Love that truck !
I am in the process of rebuilding my wife dad 1974 white frieghtliner can't wait to get it done it's a slow process but well worth it good looking cabover
Awesome Rig
Great Video! Good luck with your truck Fred !!
Did my CDL training in a Mack cabover and was issued an 89 International Cabover to drive for the company I worked for
Good video i would have liked to hear more how he started his business and the story on the growth of the company
That's my dream cabover!
Bad ass ride !!!!!!!
Nice cabover I had a 1978 just like it except it was all stock. She had a silver 92 Detroit and a 13 road ranger. I put over 800 thousand miles on the truck.
♥️♥️ Fixed up tricked out cabovers!!
There is nothing like a Cabover I live them I prefer driving one instead of a hood just my opinion I started n a Cabover as a kid now I'm 56 I still love them..great video
Very nice cabover
cute shaker cabover wuzz up with the 9670
Love the video and bill
I would love to pull a load with that unit, I’ve been hauling fuel for 41yrs. First 3 for a O/O with a 78 cab over Pete the last the last 38 as a Co. driver for Sunoco, into the sunset in a unit like that would top off the career.
Happy New Year!
That nice truck good job on that
Kool ride bill
Awesome can over
Heck yea love that big bunk eagle freightliner im on the prowl for a cabover not easy to find em for right price
Fred's awesome so is Bill. My son's are the same way
Za Hoff is in za house!
I hear you Bill I drove a reefer for five years in the food industry in the people that work in the warehouses and the docks are usually pretty trash people they work by the hour so they are very unconcerned with open you have a smooth transition at the dock door
I usta ride with my father back in the 80s when I was a kid and that's all I wanted to do was drive truck as soon as I could. Never did transpire but the one main difference that contributed to lack of interest is nearly every single one of the romantic elements freedom and outlaw vibe that were once a huge part of Truckin are now gone. It was a job that paid well n didn't have a boss looking over your shoulder at work all day people looked out for one another good stick to your ribs 24hr home cooking diner at truck stops. Now every single secend of you day is under surveillance good food is a Denny's. Truckers were a certain breed an underground outlaw club with their own language that folks knew better than to mess with and that bread a real tight comradery. Today it is much more like a job same as otger
Well Tim Gentry gotta step up his cabover game with the Air Force Cabover, The Marine Cabover he's building for his brother, a yellow bound to be shortened Freightliner cabover and his recently acquired single axle Freightliner cabover.
Growing up, on weekends, I would wash wax and polish a truck just like that... It had a 9 speed also. It sounded just like that. Wow the sound of that engine
Nice 👌 👋 👌
Just picked up a 86 shaker for 2500$ hopefully she looks this good someday
Nice color
Good video
Bad ass truckers
Started driving in the early 80s was the end of the cool time. Today it’s just drivers don’t care and inconsiderate of other drivers. I sat for 15 minutes at a Loves trying to get fuel because drivers parked in the fuel island with nobody in front of them
Trucking is cool I love trucks you build nee trucks
I have 8 sets of the small hole rims. Can’t give them away. Lol!
Does he need any drivers? I’ll drive that beautiful cab over. My Dad drove an 80s Freightliner when he started and it’s my dream too find one and paint it like his old truck. But there so hard too find.
I’d love to work for someone like Billy, driving or wrenching. But the commute from PA would be a bit long 🤣
What up SEMI Casual
I bet they get some looks oit on the road with that truck. No ELD OR DEF SYSTEM on that wagon. Done in very good taste
Is the freightliner cabover a old Charles Gantt truck it looks like the same paint scheme he had back in the 80s it's a beautiful rig
Bill, were you leased to Dawes transport when you were running west coast?
Eu sou caminhoneiro apaixonado por caminhão e estrada essas máquinas americana são top demais show 💪💪💪
Fred 👍
Is that an old Charles Gant coe? I had an 89' with the same paint and wheel base. I sold it and feel like kicking myself everytime I think about.
