COOKOLOGY COUNTERTOP DISHWASHER UNBOXING, SET UP with KITCHEN TAP & INITIAL IMPRESSIONS.
It's time to do the unboxing and set up of my brand new Cookology Countertop Dishwasher and set it up for use with a kitchen tap, just for the time being, until I can get it plumbed in by a professional plumber. My tap does NOT have a screw thread on the end - it's a smooth cylinder! This was not very helpful but I managed to find a solution with a bit of advice from a plumber.

Here's the dishwasher:

The tap adapter I bought was from Wilco and was £4 - but as you could see from the video, it needed some extra work doing on it before it would fit.

i'm addicted to watching your channel now, just started home ed for my 13 yr old eczema and allergy daughter..and although i have a rather big dishwasher, we never use it, however, i find i'm supporting daughter with lessons etc until 3, then doing planning, researching etc until about 11pm together with my own stuff..i'd rather have a table top dishwasher too..plus your video reminded me of the time when my husband was away, i wanted a clothes airer up in the garden, well i bought a large one as we have 3 adulst and 1 child in the house..i bought such a big airer that i couldn't fit it in the car properly, then, i dug out a hole and got my instant cement mixed up, digging hole took 30 mins of hard work..when i placed the spike in, i hadn't realised how quick, quick cement mix was!!! so i ended up having to dig another hole, but had a full on fight with myself in my garden to get the spike back out first, i had a massive tantrum in the garden that my mother and daughter retreated back inside the house. Plus we now live with a wonky lopsided clothes airer because i still didn't get the hang of using quick cement and i wasn't going to fight digging a third hole!! Honestly, there's always a story to laugh about with my DIY adventures, like the time i tried to put up a shower curtain and ended up with a hole that went right through from bathroom to living room.

🤣 Your DIY adventures sound hilarious! I remember when I first started home-edding I would be planning til 11 every night too, but as time went on I kind of just got into a habit and pattern and didn't seem to need to do as much planning. I guess also probably because we eventually went the online/correspondence course route for key stage 4 which didn't involve as much planning. Good luck with it - I hope you enjoy it as much as we did and thanks so much for watching. :¬)

My mum had one but I haven’t been around it did years and never knew about the rinse aid or salt.
I have the 8 place version of this dishwasher(didn't really need such a big dishwasher but I find the extra basket shelf helps a lot to cram in more stuff). I live in a soft water area so even though I put salt in the tank it doesn't really need it. I also reduced the salt water setting down to the lowest it can go and the rinse aid down to one because the Finish Quantum ultimate pouches have rinse aid in them too. I forgot to do that first wash and everything had so much residue on them.

Oh March 2021. There we are!
You'd think they'd let you choose an adapter that would come with it.I really want this one or the comfee one because you can shove a lot in them. Do you still like this?

I do still love it, though I soon got it plumbed in properly :) thanks so much for watching.
I was having the same problem, when I realised I only used cold fill for my washing machine and the hot fill was going spare. So I'm using that.

Oooh lovely! :¬) I love mine, but I'll love it more once it's plumbed in. What I especially like is it reduces worktop clutter of dirty crockery as it can be rinsed and stored in the dishwasher, out of sight, until it's time to do a load.
I'm just now watching your vid, is it possible for you to tell me what the times are and also what each setting is supposed to clean please? I can't find anywhere online that tells you the times of each setting, and also how much each setting cleans the items. I put some things in on the p4 setting but I'm presuming because it is a picture of a glass that setting is just for glasses. Hence why my things were still slightly dirty when I took them out!

Hi Becca. Thanks for watching! I only ever use program 6, which is the 30 minute one. It doesn't dry so I just open the door and pull out the rack to let it air dry for a while before putting away. I've had a look in the operating instructions and although it doesn't say which cycle is what number I am deducing they are in numerical order and are as follows: 1 - Intensive 140 mins 2 - Normal 120 mins 3 - ECO 180 mins 4 - Glass 75 mins 5 - 90 Minute - well, 90 mins! 6 - Rapid - 30 mins 7 - Self-cleaning - 80 minutes. I find I can't put really soiled items in it - they need a rinse off under the tap first, preferably straight after use, otherwise they also need a soak. But usually that way everything comes out clean enough, and if not, it's been soaked during the cycle so a quick wipe with a cloth and rinse sorts it out. I hope that was helpful! Imo x

@@PlanetImo aw that's so nice of you, thanks so much for this info! I got mine second hand for a reeeeeally good price so I couldn't pass on it! But no manual came with it hence the question! But thank you so much for being so kind and replying. This is sooo helpful! X
I got the Faberware version - the booklet was useless. I am in the US - Dishwasher salt? I had no funnel at all.
Where did you get the black adaptor thingy from, pease

Well I did get it from Wilko, but you’re definitely best off with one with a screw fitting on the end - as you might have noticed- mine kept blasting off. 😆 Thanks so much for watching. Oh and I got it plumbed in properly within a few weeks.
Where to buy that tap connecting adaptor?
.. Imo and her plumbing instructions, using a hacksaw and gas stove. 😂 Watching you hook up the water hoses, has me on the edge of my seat.. haha I"m sitting here laughing... hubby asks what's so funny... I say if you ever need to weight something down, attach it to a mug of water.. lol Lmaoooooo... drip, drip, drip... yup... it hit the ceiling.. hahaha That's a lot of force behind the adapter coming off the faucet. Am wondering if that line around the faucet towards the bottom actually does come off to allow the screen inside to be cleaned out with built up minerals and allows for an attachement to be screwed to it for the d/w. The plumber will get that figured out. Best to sit back and wait for him.. ha

@@PlanetImo .. Perfect !!!. The only reason I know that is from having over 40 years of owning homes and doing updates and changes that I learned along with my hubby.
Does anyone know why this diswasher is coated with a polythene skin? I spotted a small piece of what looked like left over packing stuck on the botom corner of the washer, but when I tried to remove it I could see that the whole outside of the washer was sealed in a poly-skin. Never come across this type of thing on white kitchen goods before!?

Mine’s the same!!! Perhaps it just makes it rust proof? That’s a complete guess. Thanks so much for watching! 😃
she reminds me of me🤣🤣🤣🤣 I was so scared to do this myself but she was so funny dishwasher salt? now I know what it is where to buy some ans where to put it🤣 and now I feel i can do this..............
You need to use the .longer programs to dry your crockery
How do I know if my tap is compatible? Or how do you know that the tap adapter you buy is correct?

Hello! What ever you do - don't do what I did! 😂As you could probably tell from this video, my universal tap adapter from the hosepipe section of Wilko botch job (I had to cut it and add something else onto it) didn't really work very well as it kept flying off the tap at high pressure. I was convinced my tap didn't have a screw thread on it - but it turns out that it actually did. So I don't know exactly what the adapter you need is called, but if you can work out the diameter of your tap end and get a screw adapter for that diameter, I'm guessing it should work. You should be able to unscrew the end of it to reveal a screw. I didn't find that clear from the packaging, or from Amazon, where I bought mine from. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful! I would heartily recommend getting it properly plumbed in though - I didn't realise how much I used my kitchen tap until it was being tied up while the dishwasher was running and I got sick of plugging it into the tap very quickly. I love this dishwasher though, all these months on! Thanks so much for watching and good luck finding the right fitting!
