Cooking with Baba During Ramadan! How to Make Kunafa *Secret Ingredient*
I hope you guys enjoy this recipe!
Ingredients:
1 1/2 boxes of Kunafa
32 oz of fresh mozzarella cheese
1 1/2 pound of butter
2 cups of unsalted pistachios
2 cups of cane sugar
Orange blossom water
1. Chop up your kunafa dough in the food processor until fine or desired texture.
2. Chop up pistachios in the food processor until almost fine.
3. Chop up mozzarella cheese in food processor to your desired texture.
4. In a small pot, combine cane sugar and 2 cups of water (or 1 cup if you want your syrup thick) and boil until sugar dissolves. Add 1 tbsp or more of orange blossom water for taste.
5. Pour chopped kunafa onto a clean surface and shape into a circle.
6. Slowly pour about 1/2 cup of the clarified butter into the kunafa dough and massage it until evenly mixed.
7. Cover a round pan with clarified butter.
8. Spread a thin layer of kunafa dough to cover the pan. This is your base layer.
9. Add the chopped mozzarella cheese on top of the kunafa dough.
10. For the final layer of kunafa dough, lightly sprinkle it on top of the cheese. It does not have to be fully covered.
11. Bake in the over for 30-35 minutes at 350F or until slightly golden on top.
12. Take out of the oven. You can flip kunafa into a separate tray if you would like.
13. Add pistachios to preference, pour syrup over entire kunafa and serve!

✊ All the respect to this Palestinian family, they shine wherever they are. The father's voice is so genuine and warm. Add to that the exceptional talent. Lots of secrets revealed in this video especially for expats or Palestinians living abroad. I feel like I tasted it although I haven't. Ramadan Kareem!

yes!! My Moroccan family loves Kunafa but we don't know how to make it the traditional Palestinian way so this was amazing.

I just made clarified butter and started freaking out that it was a bit more brown then I've seen. Now that I see baba Asad using a more browned butter I feel relief! Inshallah my kunafa turns out well tomorrow! Eid Mubarak!

I actually had the good fortune to have Knafeh in Nabless its birthplace! My mom is Egyptian and uses ricotta, but baba rest his soul was Palestinian from Haifa and went to the Arab shops for Akkawi cheese.

I love these videos with your dad! He’s very insightful about cooking and has a nice vibe.
We in India make our own ghee. What we do is collect the cream layer that comes up on the milk after heating it, everyday little by little and keep it in a container. When the container is filled with the cream, we heat it on low heat and then what baba said that procedure is followed. Thats our ghee process and its amazing. We use it in parathas or Naan and other varieties of food, daily. Its a must must in all the houses here.
I feel like people living in the west are typically better at making middle eastern desserts because it’s not as easy to find bakeries, so we often resort to making it ourselves!

Here in Palestine we traditionally use akkawi cheese ( عكاوي), it has a smooth texture and a mild salty taste, soooo good 💔 it is best eaten while hot though ❤ good job baba ❤

@@danah7966 Actually today some places also combine mozzarella cheese in order to get the stretching effect, but originally kunafa only had akkawi cheese... And yes the best kunafa is found in Nablus city ❤
