This was the life of my grandparents and initially my parents, who later transferred to Manila, where I grew up as an urban boy, with very little skill on farming. These videos give me a glimpse of what I could have been had my parents not transferred to Manila. The videos sometimes give me heart pangs, a longing within me to return to what I missed when growing up.

The good thing is we make our own path like our parents did with theirs. Now that you're an adult, you can pursue something different too like them. If you feel farming is your calling, go for it, afterall the blood of our ancestors' running through our veins. Maybe you can invite your moms and pops for a nice dinner like this in the summer time with all your crops and work, they'd be very happy for you!

What I've just watched is what I witnessed growing up in Los Angeles in the 1970s-1980s. I would watch my father shred the coconut on his wooden stump just like yours, as I would help my Mom roll up the balls of dough. Then, it really hit home when I faintly listened in the background of voices singing Pamulinawen. I am age 55 now, and watching this vlog has brought back fond memories. My parents are originally from an area North of you in Cagayan. What a treat to watch your videos, as it gives me a keen insight into what my parents life might've been like when they were growing up in the Philippine Countryside of Northern Luzon.

I just made this yesterday inspired by this video minus the sticky rice balls. It's one of my favorite meryenda snacks. My husband (who is caucasian) asked me if its a dessert and I said it could be.
