This is a fun, good natured vid, that crams a lot easily into a very compact running time, celebrating Star TRek, human space exploration, science fiction in media (caught an Eagle, a GunStar and oops, was that a dig at JJTrek? I believe it was). In a world seemingly looking to embrace darkness and despair, this video gets Star Trek.

No matter how advanced starships may become, nothing will ever replace a Constitution Class Starship - Except perhaps a refit. One thing they must never do though is ever get rid of the Captains chair from the Original Constitution Class, that is what makes it unique. Better than the Excelsior Class, Ambassador Class - Though it bore more of a resemblance to the Constitution Class - Galaxy Class and Sovereign Class. None can hold a candle to a Constitution Class.

@@Nichodo They were probably both pulled back to ESD for extensive upgrades. There's another (I think ST:Phase 2 - it was that or ST:New Voyages, I always get them mixed up) fan short around here that shows a "halfway mark" between the TOS Connie and the TMP Connie. I'm willing to wager that the 1700 got the "incremental" upgrades, and the _Excalibur_ was simply gone whole hog, since the SFCOE had a severely damaged Connie they could do whatever with (it was likely considered a write-off - moreso if you watch "Ghost Ship"). Depending on your acceptance of fan works and how you want to pick your multiple choice options, 1701 likely served a couple years in the "half refit" configuration before her full 2370's refit. This fan short would then fit between either "Season 4" and "Season 5" of TOS (had they happened), or between 5 and 6 (1 - ? being Original Config, 6+ being "Incremental Upgrade" config).

  • @robertballasty395

Well, it was pretty explicit* from the time of TMP (and since) that the Enterprise 1701 was the first such refit. Also, that the tech was so new in refit 1701 ("...engines __times more powerful than anything carried into space before") that there was no ship built that had been built to that spec from the keel up before refit 1701 was launched. So, no. Strictly speaking, there's no way a pre-refit 1701 should be seen flying past the later model. --- But... it's a fan project and labor of love, so we can just sit back and enjoy eye candy

This has got to be one of the nicest video tribute mashups I've ever seen. If you are an SF or real space fan (or more than likely both) there is something for everybody. And this video sums up perfectly why I like building SF models in my spare time (so I can recreate scenes like this in my imagination).

See, this is the line between the fan movie and the new Paramount crap : there is love at everything a fan does ! Just beautiful to see the Enterprise out of space dock, fantastic animation ! Shutting down fan productions, while making trash like STD is a huge mistake, and the whole franchise will be harmed. And by the way, JJprise dismantled on a moon junkyard... how appropriate !

Very clever. This film is a basket overflowing with more pretty little Easter eggs than I've ever seen in one place before. You almost want to go through it frame by frame to pick them all out. I'm particularly fond of McCoy's "Major Award" and the takeoff strip having an Interstate 10 road sign painted on it.
