This is hilarious! My favorite part is when Cory held Cookie Monster's hands and said "I believe in you". LOL.
that feeling when the cookie monster has more self control than me
How I love that blue fur ball 😍
This incredible video uses skills that I have been learning about from CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy). As a man with both bipolar and OCD, I found this kind of thinking very helpful. It is particularly about thinking before reacting. Defusion is one of the most helpful skills I have learned from CBT.
What a fun video! Parents can use this to teach their children self control. Thanks NPR :)
In adulthood, you don't only need to put off good things until later. Usually, you have to exclude them all together.
When you are forced to use up your willpower dealing with the constant stream of crap life is throwing at you, it can be hard to say no to that "cookie".

I'm with you Cookie Monster: "Why NOT eat cookies?! I loved this video! I'm a grown woman and still love Sesame Street characters! ...maybe they resemble people I still know. Cookie Monster is my favorite along w/Oscar the Grouch! Thank you for this! It made me LOL!
Self-control = A) Keep your mind on something else. B) Breath. C) Keep busy. D) substitute one pleasure for another wasn't included but I'll add
Incredible video! Thank you!
Dr Zhivago....is a little dry! That's very funny. In both meanings of the word, Cookie eating the book and the book itself!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣one of the best cookie monster videos ever
This was a great video to teach children different strategies they can use to self regulate. The strategy to help kids calm down like deep breaths is a tool that they can use in different scenarios inside and outside the classroom. After all, managing emotions is an important component of self regulation that children need to actively practice well into adulthood and will greatly aid them in developing a high degree of emotional intelligence. This video was entertaining and well thought out, definitely will be showing it to my child and sharing it with my friends who have children!
This is genius!
Teaching my client self regulation in our ABA sessions and this video is great!! Thank you NPR!
Soo funny, entertaining and also a good way to learn self control
I would love to include the term co-regulation as a way to emphasize your role in supporting and modeling! You did a wonderful job co-regulating with Cookie Monster!😂

Wouldn't it be great if eating too many cookies was his only self-regulation problem?
This perfectly illustrates the relationship between healthy people and other people.

Why Dr. Zhivago? Could they not have chosen a more appropriate book for a children's video?
Exercise
Self regulation is eating one cookie on the plate , and in a 30mins you eat another ?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is completely disgusting! This man, for keeping the cookies away from Cookie Monster, is the real monster in the story. That is more of a robot than a man. Filthy and disgusting.
