I remember the baseball ad growing up as a kid when I was vacationing at Marble Lake, Michigan. That's how I was first introduced to the cereal, AND when I first tried it, as well.

Explaining Cookie Crisp to my daughter: "It's a cereal that's shaped like little cookies. Well, it's basically.... cookies."

It started as a pet food company first. I remember as a kid being confused when I saw that Ralston Purina checkerboard pattern on Purina brands of dog food while at the same time seeing it on boxes of Chex. Anyway, the founder's name was William H. Danforth, not Purina. William H Danforth established Purina in St Louis, Missouri, USA. ... The name Purina originates from the company's slogan, "where Purity is Paramount." As a 90s kid I always wanted to try cookie crisps because the commercials were so cool. I think I bought my first box last year. I was pretty disappointed when I realized it's just corn cereal with chocolate chips in it. I always thought it was actual mini cookies. Ugh 😣 childhood ruined

Practically EVERY cereal commercial says that, no matter if the cereal is nutritious or not. I haven't seen a single cereal commercial that doesn't say "part of a complete breakfast" at the end.

How the fuck did chip turn from a dog into a wolf Also why did the Cookie Crisp cop become a BAD GUY?! Did he become corrupt or something? Also it’s nice to see Chip give up his life of crime to SHARE the Cookie Crisp instead of taking it for himself

So the burglar murdered the wizard and eventually went insane after the dog deliberately screwed up his plans in the factory, the cop started stealing cereal from kids and was killed in open sea by the dog, and then the dog started sneaking around schools trying to sell cereal to kids.

6:32 THIS is where I came to be aware along the cookie crips timeline lore lol. Like THAT is the quintessential Cookie Crisp commercial for me that I remember the jingle and everything. I liked the cop and crook, but I was always a bigger fan of the dog. He was cool. I always wanted a plush of him lol

...I was around in the times they were phasing out Cookie Crook's partnership with Chip the Dog in lieu of Chip being the poster good boy only. Boy was I confused when the former Cookie Cop was suddenly all _"NO!_ Cookies aren't for breakfast, you fools!" I would also be disappointed to learn and relearn every time I tried Cookie Crisp that it didn't taste like any crispity crunchity chocolate chip cookies I knew. It just tasted like...cereal. Cereal with little cocoa bits in it. Good times though, those old commercials.

There was just no convincing my mother that this cereal is just whole grain cereal with bits of chocolate on them, not real cookies, or the amount of vitamins. Even as a child, I could tell the difference. But if only I could have fed Mom a spoonful, like in the commercials, then she wouldn’t be so overprotective.

Weird how chip became a good guy, cookie cop became a bad guy, and cookie crook was never mentioned again.
