Honestly a lot of these mechanics are not optimal for ranked games. Positioning/ awareness is way more important.

That was my guess after I saw the 1v1. My thought process was,”which person would you rather have on your team? Someone that probably ball chased and ball hogged (Pluto) or someone that is solid on the ground and knows more about the basics to a team(Geoff)”

I think you're partially correct. In champ, you usually have decent aerial control and it's when you can start incorporating air roll, but you should not rely on it as it's a difficult mechanic to master and can easily throws you off. As a GC1 with more focus on positioning and team plays, I only use it when I feel it's the only way (like to hit the ball the way I need to), otherwise that's just an unconsidered risk of whiffing just to be fancy which is pretty common to see in lower ranks like diamond.

The player would be chosen like most of your contestants and at the end of a series of challenges at your choosing, the coaches will try to guess their rank. I'd love to try this challenge sometime. I'm champ 1/2, can barely flip reset among other mechanics, plus I have a lot more hours in the game than I should for my rank. Around 3500 total across PC and console. In my opinion, I'd say I play like a high plat or maybe a diamond, so it'd be interesting to see what people guess my rank as.

Not at all surprised that coolguy was ssl, I mean not only the thumbnail but his ability to recover was top notch his mistakes were clearly just nerves getting to him

No idea if that would work for the format with the prizes and all, but I'd love to see you add one player of REALLY low rank (talking like bronze/silver) to the challenge just to mess with everyone else's predictions.
